Its a very destabilising experience. We all inhabit our own story, and when you find out that parts of your story don't add up, you have to throw out several page and re write.

But is very difficult to rewrite because you've based your identity on your story. So essential you have to rebuild yourself.

I've had this happen too. Why was I blind to this? Was I wilfully blind because I wanted my marriage to work? Why did I want my marriage to work so badly I turned a blind eye to this? What caused this neediness in me?

You've just got to do some self examination. Journal free form, and go back and re read weeks and months down the line. Try to connect some new dots, maybe.

Cut yourself some slack. You made some choices based on who you were, your upbringing, past experiences and traumas that left a lasting impact etc.

Just focus on learning from it and look forward.

Forget about it and make sure it doesn’t happen again. We live a very small amount of time. Life flows like water. Just let it go it’s not important anymore. Let it be some other dumbasses problem now.

I just assume that everything is tainted somehow and somewhere. Like the other gentleman said, be thankful that you are no longer in that marriage.

My wife was the one who pointed out that my ex was guilty of infidelity while simultaneously accusing me of infidelity. Women are awesome at pointing out other women's faults.
