Tbh I always found the narrative that dress codes disproportionately affect women a bit weird

Maybe in some sense if you only look at it to where certain standards such as a dress needing to go past the knees exists (since men don't wear dresses commonly)

But for professional settings, it seems like men always wear the classic suit and tie while women have a much wider variety on what they can wear and still be considered okay

In addition to the obvious gender bias it’s interesting Schumer claims there never was a dress code before when as the article states there was a formal dress code until it was relaxed in 2017.

I remember the issue then. Some women complained about the sleeveless dress restriction, claiming discrimination despite the fact men had to wear jackets and ties.

It looks like the discriminatory trend will continue.

There are women that I work with that will wear a long sweater over leggings are call it business attire while we all have to wear suits and ties.

In 2019, the attire for women in the Senate was relaxed after then-Senate Rules Committee chair Amy Klobuchar pushed for a change so women could wear sleeveless dresses.

So much for equality, right? And what about footwear? I saw a story about Marjorie Taylor Greene's ugly-ass toes recently, since she was wearing sandals. Can you imagine if men wore sandals? The government would just shut down. No need to worry about a budget being in place.

Krysten Sinema is still in the Senate.

In 2021, she was interviewed by Politico and had this to say regarding criticism of her outlandish fashion:

“It’s very inappropriate. I wear what I want because I like it. It’s not a news story, and it’s no one’s business."

In the same interview, she said "You’re either honest or you’re not honest."

So, for those of you who don't know, the US Capitol building was finished in 1826. It's also huge- more than sixteen acres across five floors. It's also in the American South, climate-wise (geographically, it's basically ON the Mason-Dixon line, which means they had a lot of fun during the civil war- and that's "fun" in the Dwarf Fortress sense).

How much money is wasted in cooling it every year, when we could just have Congress dress for the weather? How much energy is wasted? Most pressingly, on what basis do we get Congressmen and -women bitching about reductions in energy consumption when they're- evidently!- unwilling to take the most basic steps that wouldn't actually cost them anything or hurt in any way?

To be fair, I haven't seen a female senator who dresses like a homeless bum in the Senate yet. But yeah, it should apply equally across genders.

A great example of Republican idiocy. Just look how California is passing a law that will literally block 99,99% of all false rape legal suits, a thing that utilizes an excuse on supposed "blaming the victim", but Republicans did nothing - although the solution was quite easy to silence the Feminists and enable those who are already found not guilty with the "beyond reasonable doubt" to try and prove the that they were accused under false allegations with same conditions to prove it, "beyond reasonable doubt"... WITHOUT literally shutting them down based on astronomical expenses. All you needed was to maintain the same requirements in the legal process and yes, if you preserve anonymity of the accused until being found guilty, there's NO excuse for such law... but Republicans just don't care!
