The Internet is driving resistance to diversity in films, hence the backlash against The Little Mermaid. Now those films are taking huge financial hits because Conservatives won't watch them. All driven by the Internet.

Philosophers and theorists were already writing about the extensive social changes in human society following the development of mass media in the 1960's. The internet is a far more sophisticated system of communication, media production, and propaganda (and perhaps "anti propaganda") than they could have dreamed of. Yet you'll still get plenty of people (mostly 40+ year olds) who seem clueless on the degree to which we might expect and actually do see its effects on "real" society.

Some people will just never catch on.

Actually, I think this is part of the problem. I understand anonymity if you're a whistleblower, government dissident, in witness protection, etc; that is, a situation in which your physical safety could be compromised if you stated your opinion. But 99% of people here don't fall into any of those categories. Nope, a lot of folks want anonymity simply because (1) they're too damn scared to attach their name to what they really believe and/or (2) they want to be uncivil (re: douche nozzles) to people without suffering any consequences.

The discussions on this and many other subs would be a lot more civil and productive if people couldn't hide behind anonymity. On the other hand, without all the LARPing some of the amusement factor would suffer as well. So there's that.

Exactly, I love how bluepiller's common argument is something like "it's internet and not real life" "touch grass". Women that scream to trap neuter and release cis men is just on the internet and not real life. Yeah they wouldn't actually try in real life (at the moment) with real men cause they know exactly what would happen. But I guarantee you if all these women that liked that post gained enough power legislatively or gathered enough of a simp army to do their dirty work, they absolutely would. This tells you the kind of sick individuals we're dealing and need to be wary of. The internet is the only place they share the true beliefs they're too scared to share irl. It's the truest place to gather the real thoughts of what society thinks as they aren't bound by physical or social consequences.
