No! Just don't. I travel for work and I was even thinking of trying it. I was back at work and looked right at my boss and said I am not living in that house anymore. I would rather sleep in my vehicle than go back to living with her.

As mentioned in earlier comments, cohabitation after divorce is perfectly legal in all 50 states and does not create additional financial obligation. Any custody arrangement remains in effect. Long term cohabitation could put you in a common law situation but your divorce will protect any assets under your control.

As for drawbacks, 96% or so divorces are contested and hostile, so its not a good idea if you had a bitter experience. If you are in the 4% joint filers who do it for tax benefits, health insurance, to avoid estate taxes etc. go for it!

I'm about a week away from ending cohabitation - two months removed from finding out my STBX was a lying serial adulterer.

It's been a nightmare.

Absolutely the most emotionally punishing experience of my life to stay at home with my kids while she went out screwing almost every night.

If you can avoid it, do so.

If you can't, and you have kids, then spend every second you can focusing on them.

You need two separate living situations in order to adequately heal. Moving on is tough if you see her every day and night. You are divorced for a reason not a season. Cut the cord.
