Not to long ago, my longest relationship, 5+ ish years, ended.

It hurt I got over it. Or as much as I could. One of the biggest factors was I didn't want to get married. We lived together we did plenty together etc etc. Given I payed the rent, bills, food. But it was whatever I didn't mind because she cooked and cleaned and I loved her.

But I didn't and still don't understand the point of marriage. I've heard every single worst case scenario with marriages, I've met men who nearly killed themselves because of ruined marriages. I just dont understand.

If there are specific "benefits" that would make it worth while I would love to know. Any other view points are also welcome.
