where are you located?

generally it's 50/50 for extra expenses, daycare, swimming lessons, health, etc etc.

if they are necessary.. if they are not necessary like going to sports and you don't agree with it then it's the other parents responsibility to pay

yes that's correct, we do the same. but not all expenses, just extra curricular activities, schooling and medical, you need to have it written within the agreement otherwise she will ask you to pay for everything

Mine is 75/25. Damn judges can basically do whatever they want.

Also, important is who the decision-maker is on the extracurriculars.

Generally makes sense for 50-50 if you’re both in agreement. If you’re not in complete agreement, then the person who wants it done should pay 100%.

There’s going to come a time when these extracurriculars are going to impinge on your parenting time. Especially annoying if it’s an activity that you don’t necessarily support , the kid doesn’t like and the mom is basically making them do.

In some places extra curriculars are commonly split income proportional.

All child expenses 60/40 is not true. Your lawyer is not working for you if she can’t explain this. MOST child expenses (housing, food, clothing) are included in the CS you will pay. The calculation for CS assumes you will also pay housing food clothing when they are with you.

Extracurriculars are the one thing explicitly not included in CS.

Now for the key point: you should be able to negotiate extracurriculars are to be split 50/50. Do that.

If you split these 50/50 and your ex never buys any clothes or shoes for your kids, it’s fine. Having to reimburse your ex for 60% extracurriculars after paying medical, dental, CS, maybe alimony too… now that is bullshit.

I find myself in that situation and I could have negotiated my way out in mediation.
