Saying that you're meeting a girl could make you seem tryhard like you're trying to brag, which might make you appear needy.

Saying that you're meeting somebody but not telling her the gender would be better. It will get her thinking without seeming like you're trying to shove it in her face. If she tries to ask about the gender of your friend, dodge her questions. She'll get the hint

Don't tell her. Even if she is going out with other guys too, people still don't like to hear that. She'll most likely loose interest on you if you tell her about the other date. You just met her, you don't own her commitment.

Personally I never tell them, but at the same time I don’t lie about it either. Saying you’re busy or as someone else said, you’re hanging with a friend is plenty info and still honest as long as you aren’t just surrendering that info without prompt.
