I did this once, wasn't really a good experience. I waved and said hi instead of tapping her shoulder.

It turned out she is 4 years older than me and she kindly said that we have a big age gap (I was a freshman at the university.)

She gave her number though, but i never texted her because she did unwillingly and I knew it wouldn't work out.
