Yes. Unfortunately, this subreddit appears to be all too much angsty teenagers, and people seeking approval for getting to second base with tipsy club skanks who would have said yes whether you'd studied game or not.
Read up on RSD, rather than pretending to be the desirable, sociable male for female attention, actually participate in social activities, and become the desirable, sociable male.
What I'm trying to say, is that a lot of pua is just confidence (situational competence) in social situations. Learning to talk to people is a universal skill, be it for getting girls, doing well at work, or making friends.

Seduce everyone. The same rules apply, just adjust accordingly.

When making your intentions known. Make it known that you want to make new friends.

Remember a huge stage in the pick up process is making one feel comfortable.

All of these things can be used to gain friends. Everyone loves confident leaders, not just women.

You need to learn how to elicit a deeper connection through conversation. Your problem is that while you're interacting with people, they aren't having any emotional response to you.

Search seddit for "conversation threading" as a technique to make your way to topics people care about, which you can use to make them share their emotion with you and allows you to alter their mood.

Honestly i started PU for adventure. Not the sole purpose of bangin chicks left and right. Having female friends to hang with and party with is always fun.

The biggest piece of advise that has carried me SO far is this: be a great listener. People love those who are charismatic, and there are two ways you can achieve this. You either are the life of the party, or you make people think you are by paying attention to them. IMO, the best way to make friends and learn things is to just listen to people. Ask questions. The more you listen, the more you pick up, which translates to the more background knowledge you have about various topics, thereby making new conversations easier. People love talking about themselves. You can seriously say less than 50 words (not all of the time, of course) and have someone walk away thinking you're the coolest person they've ever met. Don't try to "make friends". Just do what you enjoy doing, talk to the other people doing it, and have a good time. Friendship just sorta happens as a byproduct. You don't need some official title to have a good time with people.

Seddit can definitely help. I think a lot of people come here to learn how to pick up girls, but then after applying the principles they realise how much more there is to this social dynamics thing.

For me, pickup was like a gateway drug to becoming a more sociable, interesting and engaging person. It has taken me a lot further than I thought it would.

I suppose I should update people on what i think of the advice so far. I appreciate that some people have taken the time out of their day to help me with this issue, I have read all of ur posts and I think a few people hit the nail on the head here. A few things stood out 1 of them being a listener I don't usually listen that well to other people and I am quite often to interject with my own things and sorta steer the topic to things I want to talk about or I will become negative in an attempt to establish "rapport". A good example is this Me: so what classes do u have? Her/him: math, english, biology, spare Me: Ughhh I hate math I'm so bad at it I feel when i behave like this it detracts people from me.

Another thing that stood out was that people usually have friends that are into the same things as you. This would explain why party people hang out with party people nerds hang out with nerds, and so on. This all I really have to say right now as its 12 AM and I am quite tired. Please post more insight :)

Becoming friends with people for the sake of being friends will feel weird...

Friends happen naturally.

The friends I have are people who are walking similar paths as I am and generally think in the same ways. IE like me all my friends are in my early 30s, we are single and go out in the weekends, we aren't drunks but we enjoy 2-3 beers, we enjoy the company of women, we prefer smaller government and hate having to pay for another person's kids. We believe in fairness and don't like being taken advantage of. We prefer rock over rap etc etc etc. And we make somewhere between 35K and 60K.

So its easier to find friends with people who are walking the same road.

WHat sounds better.

"I go out to the bars on the weekend and hit on girls and drink a couple of beers...Sometimes I get laid or whatever. Let me know if you ever want to go and hang out.."

or..

"Hello, Iam a good person... Will you be my friend...? We can hang out and stuff..."
