I haven't been able to figure this out. I'm able to hold eye contact (and smile) when talking with anyone now though I can still improve (I've been working on it since I started university a few years ago).

I am curious what most sedditors do when it comes to casually walking down the street/mall/store...anywhere. Do you actively look at people in the eye as they are coming towards you? Or do you just focus on an invisible dot ahead of you? When its just one or two people in passing, I'll keep eye contact and smile.

But when its a lot of people in a busy area, my eyes feel like they are darting around and felt like it looked approval seeking so now I do the invisible dot stare when I'm walking through an area/venue with a ton of folks and occasionally seek eye contact. Is this standard or am I doing it wrong?

TL;DR when walking in populated places, do you actively seek eye contact or just keep it focused?
