Recently started reading Neil Strauss'(Style) book The Game.. A few questions.

While The Game provides many great examples in regards to starting interactions with girls (box game, palm reading), it is outdated. Things like negs won't work much on girls who are self-assured/confident and will most of the time work only on girls who are insecure/seeking validation.

I would recommend you read Models by Mark Manson. It is probably, in my opinion, as well as many others in this sub, the best book on attracting women at the moment. It focusses on improving yourself to the point where you are the best you you can be. Because you are the best you can be, your innergame/confidence will sky rocket. The Game focuses a lot on outergame but girls are able to tell when you are telling her she is beautiful because you wanna get in her pants or because you genuinely believe so. Guys with weak inner game will come off as weak and needy. You can have great outer game but if your inner game is lacking you will be lacking.

In regards to not being able to attract the girls that you think are cute, it might be something about your appearance(hair, dress style, fitness). Perhaps your wittyness is not enough to carry everything else. They say first impressions are a big deal and what is the first thing everyone sees about others? Their exterior appearance, usually not their wit.

I would finish up reading The Game as it is a great book for reading sake but if you are looking for seduction advice, hittup the sidebar and read Models. I've met very few people who read the book and said it didn't help them out.

The Game, while an entertaining read, is not necessarily what you want to emulate. Models by Mark Manson is the most popular outside recourse on this sub, and for good reason. That said, it sounds like your sticking point is not what you're saying. Aside from self-depreciating humor, and even then there are plenty of exceptions, it's more important HOW you say something than WHAT you say. Strong body language, tonality, and physical escalation are what you need to focus on. There are many resources on this sub you can check out and there are even more great books to help you. The Game is more entertainment than a guidebook. It is a good read though, and if you want some surreal feelings when you're done, you can go look up some of the old posts by the PUAs mentioned in the book. It's one thing to know a book is based off true events, but actually seeing the real world evidence that it happened is kinda awesome.

The top two comments are telling you that Models by Mark Manson is the most useful book to read. To help you actually improve your game but more importantly to be the man you want to be. Finish this read if you'd like. Take what works. But listen to what has been upvoted. I'm literally just commenting to stress how important this book is.

I liked The Game, it's not a manual is more a story about Mistery (one of the characters), I don't think than seduction can be told by a manual, women are not robots.

Many of the techniques like negging are for when you are opening a total stranger and you need to hook them somehow. If you're already going on dates with women, then negging them at that point is going to be rude. You need to be looking at techniques that are about being playful, fun, rapport, comfort, trust, and vulnerability. That's where you're hitting your sticking point I think. You already have their attraction, they're at the point where they are out with you and are looking to connect with you, so you need to work on building rapport, trust, vulnerability, connect with their fears, failures, passions, hopes and dreams. There are many canned routines for segueing into those topics. And you're not going to have an emotional connection with 100% of the women you go out with. Accept that and move on to other women who you do connect with.

2002 was a different time...notice the bit about having an envelope of photos of your recent funtimes? Definitely was a game changer back when smartphones didn't exist. Trying that now is straight up embarrassing.

Fact is, we live in a post-The Game world, one irreversibly changed not only by men who grew up reading it but also by women who've dealt with the men who grew up reading it. It's left the techniques and scripts behind, I'm afraid.

Again, no, you should actually be filtering yourself LESS. Success with women is not about techniques, it's about who you are.

Read The Game for entertainment if you want, but it's an awful source of information for success with women. It's outdated. Sorry, but no way in hell should you be trying to 'NEG' women. If you want to read a great book, read Models by Mark Manson.

Also, Owen "Tyler" Cook is a guy who is presented in a bad light in the book. He has developed IMMENSELY and now is the boss of RSD, arguably the best pick up/self development company in the world.

be careful with negs, so many [pp are super self conscious and if you target something personal they will feel hurt.

My favourite neg is "hey your label is hanging out of your jeans", they will let down their guard instantly and say thanks and laugh. But its not targeting anything personal.

The best negs justbreak their guard, and let you in.

I read it years ago, but as I recall it's not an instructional guide, but rather a story about Neil's experiences learning the game. Techniques and jargon are mentioned, but it doesn't help to learn them.

If that's what you're looking for, read the side bar, or send me a PM and i'll see what I can recommend.

It's still an entertaining read though.
