I'll keep this short: - at an old college friend's birthday bbq

  • his roommate is 32, short guy, doesn't introduce himself when it is me, him and 3 girls in the kitchen and no one else has shown up yet

  • I walk up to introduce myself, he asks if I'm gay in front of the girls, I make a joke about it (no interest in the girls anyway, trashy looking)

  • Later, ignores me in conversation with the same girls

  • Later, commands me to put firewood in the fire, I laugh at him and tell him I'm too pretty to get my hands dirty, he says, "No you're not" and walks away

Guy was a total dick, trying to overcompensate as being an alpha macho man with a napolean complex. I honestly have never met anyone this rude that was out of high school - I didn't get visibly mad but legitimately thought about beating the shit out of him in the middle of the barbecue for a few moments.

What is the best way to deal with people like this when forced to interact?
