I went on a date with a feminist, because I like to know my enemies.

So we talked, and she's all "misogyny" there, "patriarchy" that, and I'm just testing my patience with when I have to deal with this type of shit in other situations. Then she spilled this gem: "I'm so tired of men who can't even treat women like gentlemen!". I just responded with silence and a poker face.

I've said this before, but I try not to make "who pays" a big deal. If I ask her out, I'll pay. If she insists on splitting it, I'll let her. If she asks me out, I'll give her the opportunity to decide how she wants to handle the check.

I try not to make an issue of it. If I feel like I'm being used, I won't move forward. If I can't afford it, I wouldn't go out.

I have bigger battles to fight than who pays the check.

I must admit I never really understand trp reasoning about not paying on a date. I make a good living and I typically date college age girls. I have more than enough money to cover a drink and they sometimes don't. I never get put into orbiter status. I think there must be some middle ground about this.

Although in this situation the girl coming right out and stating that she expects her night paid for is a little off putting.

I wouldn't necessarily ascribe all the negative money-grubbing and feminist aspects to this interaction that others are and immediately write her off -- seems like she is an analytical type (which actually could be a warning sign depending on your personality) and that may have just been a throwaway line complaining about other jerks on Tinder... also get a vibe that she is looking for a boyfriend or relationship, rather than a hookup, but hard to be sure on that (just something to keep in mind).
