Mediation assumes both ppl are adults, ( not sulking squabbling children)

normally adjusted without a personality disorder

and not toxic liar manipulative cheaters.

One of factors is present always present in 99% of most cases.

To me it’s the equivalent to costly psyche out before the main event.

Mediation isn't a joke. It's a pay day for both attorneys who know that if both parties have tension between each other, then mediation isn't beneficial to them but the attorneys. They will not tell you this, why will they help you save money, especially in this economy. It's a formality.

I mean, honestly, it is your stbx who is the joke. Mediation works for a lot of people. Her attorney ... works for her. This falls on nobody but her.

AZ required free mediation for divorce with children. I went to it with my now exwife. The two of them tag teamed me and railroaded me into giving up everything and her giving up nothing. Mediator actually said “only a horrible person would take away the children from the loving arms of their mother.”

But fortune favored me. The notary went home 15 minutes before we were done. So nothing was signed. I took that agreement and tossed it in the trash/.

She submitted that mediation agreement to the court as a “partially signed mediation agreement.” And our judge also tossed that in the trash.
