(NJ) Wife disappeared end of October. Found her and served Divorce papers. They are countering I pay for counsel and any other support court deems equitable. Claims she's unable to support herself. Will she win? Marriage less than 2 years

So I can’t weigh in on any $ amount. I would say this. If you can afford it pay lump sum vs payments. I did this. Mainly for two reasons. I did not want to deal with alimony. When you pay lump sum instead of alimony, they can’t adjust. I also felt writing one big painful check was better than then the monthly pain of writing little checks.

Now, what I didn’t anticipate, was my ex blowing it on AP within a few months. That was the prize to me. He took her to the cleaners, bailed and I laughed my balls off. Now I get to watch her struggle…..every….fucking…..day.

Doubtful. Most people don't get lawyer fees unless the court has preestablished what would cause that. You're allowed to divorce someone without having to pay for their attorney. That would make it too difficult for poor people to get divorced.
