I've had this happen before too. Friend zoned by a chick that I wasn't even attracted too. It made me feel negatively towards her to be honest. I had never made any moves, obviously, so I'm not sure why she felt the need to do this, but I never really got over it. So I stopped hanging out with her.

To be honest, it may have been an ego blow. I guess I considered myself a league above her. Beyond that, the fact that she felt the need to do this made me think that she thought I had ulterior motives; that she didn't trust me on some level. So ya... Emasculated and feeling like you are not trusted. Not a good vibe.

It's a little bit of a dick move, but it kind of gets her back for assuming she's hot shit by implying that you're hot shit as well. If you really want to be friends with her and hang out like a dude, then consider this little jab as the first joke you two can rag on each other and bond over.
