Firstly, forget shit tests. All of them. If a girl does something irrational, cryptic, or non-sensical, who gives a shit. General principle: non-reaction. An alpha doesn't respond to every perceived slight and attack, it's beneath him and not worthy of his time to respond to every peasant who wants to hold court. I always try to keep this in mind:

If a girl is into you she’ll find ways to interact with you hoping you’ll make moves to get with her. But the opposite is also true, if a girl senses you’re into her but she isn’t interested, then she will do everything to avoid interacting with you …

she’ll distance herself from you, she won’t intiate conversations, she’ll avoid/respond poorly to touch or eye contact, etc.

If she’s forced to interact with you she’s not going to be rude to you but will instead tolerate you with politeness and exit gracefully so she can to stay socially correct

When girls act mean to guys it can be for a few reasons …

To test you to see if you are the attractive confident person you seem to be. Usually once you have showed intent and she’s reacting to you

Or she might be horny and subconsciously frustrated that a guy/you won’t make moves on her and give her what she wants. Look for other signs that she’s aroused or that you haven’t made moves fast enough

For these cases you’re on her radar and you should interpret any rudeness as a shit test and try to pass to make yourself look good

On the other hand she might be frustrated with you because you offended/insulted her (you will know that you fucked up, this won’t be rudeness that seems to come from nowhere). It can be hard to recover from this but remain calm and collected and then exit gracefully, you can then reapproach and try again later and she will either be more into you for approaching again or want nothing to do with you.

Also if she’s avoiding you and showing disinterest you can still get with her if you are presistant, take time to build comfort, and escalate carefully. Girls will still sleep with guys they aren’t interested in for convenience, because you made moves when others didn’t, because she wanted to hookup with someone and you were there, because her friends are hooking up and she wants to compete with them etc. Guys do the same thing, you’ve definitely been in a situation where you have hooked up with girl even though you weren’t that interested or attracted.

A lot of times women aren't even aware when they're doing it, so it can be hard to tell. Either way, your response should be the same: agree and amplify.

If she is giving a shit test, you will pass. If she is being rude, she will either laugh along with you or escalate her anger and you can call her out on it.

This is a false dichotomy. There is a smokescreen on this situation, but the choices are different than you might think. It's not, "Is this a shit test?" or "Is this a rude person?" At a minimum, it's:

1.) "Is this a rude person?"
2.) "Is this a manipulative person?" (shit test)
or as someone else started to get at, 3.) "Is this about my own reaction and/or insecurity?"

Here's the thing: all shit tests are not "rude" by definition, nor do they seek to necessarily spark any particular reaction from a person. "Shit tests" fall under the following:

Someone basically trying to neg you or lower you.
Someone being thoughtless or rude.
Someone being playful.
Someone being curious.

The first two are bad or manipulative. The second pair is good. But the problem is that insecurity or our own reaction, can lead to us seeing a LOT of things as manipulative or rude, just because of our own assumptions or our own issues.

Like if someone is feeling uncertain or down about something that another person then asks about, it's ridiculously easy to feel like the other person is testing you or trying to make you feel lower or bad.

Parsing out when someone is legitimately trying to do that, versus those cases where we are actually making ourselves feel bad, is the real task.

And if someone is legitimately trying to manipulate you or make you feel bad, you definitely don't have to play ball with them; not all girls are manipulative.

While it can be fun to play around with such girls, the risk there is that doing so can lead down a rabbit hole where one gets accidentally attuned and stuck on manipulative girls and accidentally starts screening out sane girls in favor of unnecessary drama and people who are constantly trying to keep you down.

You're offering up what you see as the most important details of the situation: the end result. But, like math, human interactions are far more than the end result. ALL the math or context leading up to that result is vital to understanding how you end up with the result you get.

I could say: 5. But there are countless ways I could arrive at that result. Similarly, excepting rare situations here, a person won't start calling another person an orange or laughing at them, without SOME sort of previous interactions. Which you have left out of this post. So with that in mind, here are some questions you should answer if you want a real answer to your question.

How did you meet this girl?
Who opened who? Or were you introduced by someone else? What was said, exactly?
How did this "orange" thing get started?
What sorts of things have you talked about with her?
Have you ever been out with her socially? On a date? With friends?

I think it's pretty simple: we want you to pass the test. Repeating a test over and over like the orange girl does not make any sense, its enough to see the reaction two-three times tops. If we like a guy, we are dying inside that he passes the test and proves himself worthy material, we don't want to ditch him. So beware of situational choices on important topics. Shit tests (had to google that term, ngl) are probably things only immature people do. I know this isn't what you're asking, but anyone who is rude to you off the bat, whether it is a shit test or not is probably not someone you want to be in a long term relationship with. (As long as you weren't being a dick/ creep/ weirdo in the first place)

And same for even a hook-up. If it's them being genuinely rude, they're not interested so don't waste your time and move on. If it's a shit test, they're honestly probably more likely to be an immature crazy psycho and they might bring you nothing but grief after the hook-up.

So to (kind of) answer your question: it doesn't matter imo. Both are shitty things to do. Don't waste your time with them. And don't let them get to you.
