Please for the love of God do not stay with a woman who genuinely tried to divorce you. You will NEVER live without the fear of divorce. My wife started saying the word divorce about 6 months into our marriage and I should have called it right there. Once the divorce word is out of the bag, you might as well just fucking do it.

STBXW and I went through Divorce Mediation 6 years ago, settled on terms and signed with a notary. We never filed it, as she wanted to wait at the time, which ultimately led to emotional manipulation and us "reconciling." 5 years later, AP from the first go around comes back into her life, and now we're in court...

At least on this forum we’ve heard this plan go south many times.

But it’s your life. We don’t have to pay your alimony or child support or move your shit into an apartment.

Just depends on your situation. I am happily divorced and play more golf than any married guys.

If you have very good reasons to stay married I would at a minimum get the post nup signed now so if this happens again it’s a quick exit without any drama.

I know someone who did this, or something close to it. He’s a barely functioning alcoholic who spends most of his time acquiescing to and financially supporting his spouse’s demands.

The chances of that happening are slim. Usally women file and if there capable of doing it once then down then down the line it can happen again. I won't be held hostage to someone who can't make themselves happy.

I have nightmares about that.

One of them is that I was in the process of divorcing my exwife and then for whatever reason, after mediation, we didn't get divorced.

Then I wake up in a cold sweat. And I have to console myself, "It was just another nightmare.'
