Flirting is usually fun and sexually charged conversations. (This doesn’t mean that you are talking about sex but more about asserting your masculine energy)

In that sense it’s less about what you say and more about how you say it. You are trying to make them feel strong emotions while they are around you. Your body language, posture, eye contact, and internal thoughts all contribute to this. The words you use can help amplify these emotions.

For me I like to have normal conversations and find things they say to tease them about. This leads to some good banter, laughter and heightened emotions. (This isn’t bullying, it shows you are paying attention to the little details and can bring them back up to make her laugh).

Some girls won’t like your style of communication, those aren’t worth your time so just move on to the next, there are billions of women on earth so you’re good.

There are different ways that you can flirt & still find success.

You don’t have to master all of the different types of ways to flirt if you don’t want to.

Does it help if you do? Sure, but there isn’t a single answer to this.

You are flirting flirting with your female friends, just platonically! Same way dudes can crack gay jokes at each other and flirt without any other intentions. If you’re asking how to escalate that’s up to every specific situation but is best done by not overthinking. Go watch the ToddV video about flirting. It made the most sense to me from a logical perspective although ultimately you just learn through your own style which can only be done through experience out in the field. But to summarize ToddV, talking about something or yourself is a statement. Talking about her is a compliment. Using "we" is where it gets to flirting

Ultimately you have to combo flirting with subcommunication of what's the whole point of the interaction. Are you there to be her friend, or are you there as a potential romantic interest

What you said is a mix of everything

giving indirect or direct physical compliments

90% of the time I don't give them a physical compliment, my compliments go like this: 'I like what you said', 'I like your idea', 'I like the way you think' ....

subtly mentioning situations where both of your are together

There is no need to be subtle, it can be direct "I will take you to ....... xyz", "we should go eat something".... "I know XYZ place, let's go there".

Teasing

This is tricky. If you start teasing at the wrong moment, you will lose them because you are seen as a pervert.

being confident

Confident about what? Too much confidence is also wrong, because without realising it, you end up in the arrogant category.

Three major things to remember about flirting:

Man to women comments. Things you wouldn't say to your male friends.
Tease. Playfully give the woman a hard time.
When you combine 1 and 2 above, you have flirting.

As a woman, a man flirting can be quite cringe and it’s perfectly ok to just speak normally instead! Flirting is indirect and unassertive - it’s not masculine, it’s feminine if anything. My hubby never flirted with me, he directly told me what he wanted and that was way hotter.

I would say that flirting is about introducing potential romantic context between you two. Deeper connection, strong attraction, something unique happening between you. You can do teasing and banter just for sport or self-approval or you can open the doors of real romantic story.

You can tease everybody, it doesn't have to be sexual necessarily. Flirting is something you do with a girl you are interested in. Think of flirting like foreplay before sex.
