Happens a lot to all of us whether or not we should break the ice. Unfortunately, you never know the outcome unless you try. I have always been a take the shot kind of guy. If it is obvious she isn't interested, I just say a have a good day and move on.

If I make eye contact with someone in this kind of context I give them a little wave and a smile. If they return it, I'll go over and say hi. If they don't look particularly impressed and their eyes go back down more or less instantly, I leave them to it.

You'll have the best chances of getting a good outcome if you lock eyes with her solidly for a minute and she gives you a smile.

However, if you just try to get a number without the above, it's basically a 50/50 shot
