Men have traditionally voted largely on issues like the economy and international relations, so democrats have felt they can be pro-female and anti-male to win more women’s votes, while not losing many men’s votes. I think what’s changed is the identity politics have gotten strong enough to be an issue men especially will now actively vote against. As you mention, even many women don’t want men to be discriminated against, they don’t want their bread winning husband to lose his job to a less qualified woman for example. Many women similarly don’t think men should be allowed to participate in women’s sports. I think democrats have way over estimated the support their identity politics wins them even with women.

When Harris was appointed the democrat candidate she immediately backed off many of her woke identity politics platforms, something I think most swing voters saw was insincere. Let’s not forget, along with Biden she strongly pushed anti-male Title IX mandates less than a year ago. Her stance on this and other anti-male issues didn’t magically change. As you said, even her pretense of caring about men was fairly lame, often simply dismissing the discrimination men face.

I agree the way she misrepresented Trump probably didn’t help her. He has clearly said many times that abortion is a state’s rights issue in which he won’t try to intervene. While I’m sure many progressives bought her message, I imagine many swing voters did not.

As you said even liberal news sources are pointing out how going too anti-male is hurting democrats. It will be interesting to see if they take this to heart. From what I’ve seen, many progressives live in woke echo chambers where criticism is censored, so I think it will take quite some doing for them to truly understand their identity politics, including anti-male agenda isn’t as popular as they think.

Harris was straight up saying women need to ensure their husbands vote for her - otherwise they’re misogynists. Just straight up misandry and men and women saw right through it.

There once was a time when progressive politics was done from the paternalistic and masculine imperative of looking out for your tribe. Teddy Roosevelt founded the Progressive Party in the early 1900s simply to spite the republicans for cheating him out of the nomination. Already on its face this act of defiance is a testament to masculinity.

Somehow progressive politics evolved into this exclusively feminine culture which outwardly rejects masculine traits and behaviors. It’s why the populism I so desperately want in the Democratic Party to fight for economic justice, I know will never happen because populism is too inherently masculine for modern left culture to accept. They will only accept the risk averse maternalistic version of progressive politics which ends up being spineless and weak.

Teddy Roosevelt would be rolling over in his grave.

I read the whole thing — it’s true.. Harris lost because of cultural concerns. The article also does a good job explaining the young women who voted for Trump.

Women just aren't as capable or competent as men as leaders, their brains work differently and they are far more likely to decide things based on emotion rather than logic. Even women seem to realize this because they didn't come out to vote for Kamala either. Trump isn't fit to lead but running another woman against him was a major mistake.

Also men are getting tired of all this woke bullshit and being treated like second class citizens

Her campaign criticized men and offered a negative view of masculinity >were being told by leading Democratic politicians that they were lousy if they didn’t vote for Harris. I agree the democrats do a good job of making men feel excluded and mostly mention them as a nuisance, but are there actual examples of the above coming from the Harris campaign?
