You generally have to show interest. The key is to show indifferent interest. You're interested, but you aren't attached to any outcomes.

Don't be the guy that shows no interest. Showing interest demonstrates masculine vulnerability. If you can't show vulnerability you can't create a connection.

There is a temptation guys who are new fall into, which is to oversimplify the way things work. Part of it is not understanding the nuance (yet), part of it is frustration as the learning goes on. This is why the trope of "girls like assholes" gets peddled around by guys who don't really understand what's going on.
"Game" is a pretty broad skillset, that requires years of learning to fully understand and appreciate. Though it doesn't need to take that long.

To answer your question. It's entirely situation dependent. There are times where showing your cards is determinantal to any sort of intimacy between you and the woman. She'll get scared off and perceive your attempt at intimacy as needy.

There are other times where playing it cool is detrimental. She'll perceive your aloofness as you not caring about her, and will auto-reject you as a self defense mechanism. This depends on the girl's personality, where you are in the dating timeline, and other contextual factors.

Hasn't anyone thought about how you have give someone a clue you're I terested or else wtf is the point of talking to a person who isn't interested? No point at all. As a woman why would I waste my youth trying to figure out if a man likes me or not when hot man 1, 2, and 3 are making it easy for me?

And of course you can't overwhelm her with interest either. And be clingy.

As like most things on planet Earth, it requires a balance with the knowledge everyone else is different

Some women will hate you texting her once a day and some women would Haye it if you don't text once a day.

It's stuff like that that needs to be communicated.

Just cuz one type of dating style failed for one woman doesn't mean it's a bad style. It just means that one woman did not respond to it.

Do what makes you comfortable. If you're on the slightly more talking side then embrace it and lots of women will like that

Are you more aloof? Lots of women like that too.

It just depends so longs you aren't on the extremes of either

By giving her attention you are already showing first step of interest. The thing is you should pay attention and escalate things basing on girl’s reactions. If she seems to pull away, you should properly adjust and don’t push into scenario that she is not positively receptive towards.

A mix of both I'd say, I usually go indirect and try and just relax and connect with her, I want her to think back on our interaction as the charming man, someone she'll remember, someone who made a genuine connection and produced positive emotions.

This is tricky because if you show too much interest it is just as wrong as not showing her interest at all, you need to show interest but not over exaggerate it.

It is easier to start at a medium level of interest, and as you talk to her, you get more interested in her (I like what you said, I like what you did, I like your idea, I like -- whatever she does), it looks like a natural process of attraction because the more you know her the more you like her, she'll notice this change in your talking.

After she is hooked, it starts the escalation part, you become more playful and you go closer to her because you will start to touch her, but after she is hooked the ratio of talking will be 70% her and 30% you, it is that easy thing when all you need to do is listen to her talking and sometimes say a few sentences, but until you reach there is a long way.

I’m about as subtle as a tornado. That said, I like things being clear and all that. But I’m not creepy about it. I try to be fun. I’m just honest. Women find it amusing because it’s childlike (not childish) but that’s my personality.

That said, I’m not a bona fide PUA so others may have more data-driven answers.
