This is analogous to a similar finding regarding cancer referrals (for stomach or bowel cancer I think, where the pathologies of the disease are the same between the sexes). That research found that men with life-threatening cancers were statistically less likely to be referred to a specialist, after the same initial diagnostic test results were returned.

Unfortunately, men are not the priority for support when shared resources like medical assistance are considered. It's male disposability theory applied to health care, and the result is a dire and grim situation for men.

Yeah the idea men just dont ask for help is an old feminist which is used to sneer and trivialize male health issues.

Its from the old feminist trope that men need to "do better". As in all mens problens are toxic masculinity and patriarchy.

Its used in DV too, men are classed as not reporting, when if we look at modern data men often report but are put into perpetrator programmes and classed as the initiator.

I am a victim of this too. When i tried to reach out, hardly anybody paid any attention and nearly all of them started with their usual bullshit of an answer: "have you tried meditating?"

and one even outright told me that I am an adult and should try to control my feelings. and that person was a "mental health" awareness spreader.

after all these, i have a hard time now trusting the therapists. plus those who treat us depressed men like this, they are not real mental health professionals - according to me.

if they knew their shit, they would know that mental illness doesnt have a tongue and is not bothered by the sex of its victims.

Suicidal men are far more statistically likely to inflict violence on others and become abusive or even kill others before or along with themselves than females while suicidal.

It could be that men are more likely to be a danger to these female psychiatrists, so they're more reluctant to be anywhere near them. I knew a female psychiatrist who had many stories, sure some women did some violent things, but the men were more worrying for her, them being more capable in a fight.
