Everyday people is more aware of men issues than mainstream media suggest. And the line about the two lonely Islands is spot on.

That the media chooses nevertheless to focus on young men illustrates the male gaze that continues to dominate society, which not only means that whatever men do or think is deemed inherently important and worthy of both academic and political attention, but also sets men as the norm.

What the fuck is this? If the goal is to get men and women together to enact policies that are better for everyone why would you reduce this just to be a “male gaze”? Is this your strategy to win, to exclude potential allies?

I read it. I'm glad there was pushback in the comments. The article basically admits men are struggling, especially younger, regarding voting more right leaning than pivots to how women are voting. That's the real interest of it.

But as someone in their comments said;

Women voted for trump. Not enough voted for Kamala. It's simplistic but true.

Do many women lean left? Yes. One of the reasons, in my opinion, is that the left leaning caters to them more. Especially regarding their issues.

I don't see that when it comes to men. Oftentimes, we are told to be quiet, except for our legacy of oppression, but also readily support women. It's very confusing and often dismissive or patronising.

This is what "feminism is for women by women" means.Feminists can understand the issues face men but given the option will choice themselves even single time. This is part of why they're losing an entire generation of young men. Why be apart of a group that doesn't listen or actively belittles your problems.

the article was almost close to making a point when it said that it wasn't that young men were going far right as much as it was women going far left, and how men had systemic issues, but no, its always about women, and how women have it worse despite having a very dominant ideology making policy almost to their whims (like when they tried that night curtfew for men in the UK to "protect women")

Lost a buddy of mine from S-cide. Without getting too personal with the details, he was lonely and by the actual definition an incel, both of us are. No, we didn't hate women or was an extremist like the left likes to portray lonely men. We don't think we're owed love by women, nothing like that. We found solace in an anime gacha game to cope, we didn't get addicted to gambling as we were f2p, we just craved the warmth of the fictional world that game brought. Escapism as they say. Maybe others see that as cringe, but to us, it's the feeling of being wanted that we cherished. Yes, it's a psychological trick to get players hooked to the gacha. But god dammit it's better than nothing at all. At one of the in-game events, we were on an empty channel with just a few players, with the two of us at the center, like a campfire talking deep stuff with the few random players. My friend called us "Warriors" for never giving up despite the suffering the real world shoves at us, this was around 2019. Looking back idk if he got that thought from attack on titan, as I wasn't reading the manga at that time to know. After college, we naturally went separate ways, and only recently did I get the news. I understand the plight of the lonely men who just want to feel the warmth of being embraced, and it saddens me that some of us are caught in extremist rhetoric.

His memory lives with me and I will never forget him.
