I’ve done it. It worked pretty great a few times as an opener at the club, but I think the key is you’re taking photos of you and your friends first. If you try to show up and just start snapping photos, it’s more likely to be creepy. For reference, it’s was a Fuji film x700, simple point and shoot.

Maybe at first you need to talk with the manager, because you'll need his permission to take photos inside a private building.

Is it effective? Yes, of course! Anything is better than nothing

However, it depends on you. You have a reason to start a conversation with them and in case you read the social cues and see that they have high energy, open body language, it is worth pushing things forward.

I think it is cool if you genuinely like what you do.

But you need to not try to set up dates or anything.

Just take pics and practice small talk. I think it's a good idea for you to learn how to interact with women like being playful and funny, but not necessarily to get dates.

Not dating related but if you actually know how to take good pics you can ask the owner of places you go to if you can take promo pics for them. Could make some money (possibly) and get to know the owner… that alone could set you up with other opportunities with women or just in general.

To answer your question don’t do it for the women. It’ll be a cheesy opener at best imo

Try and set up some some portfolio or professional social media and a QR Code to show as you introduce yourseld and your purpose.

Unless the staff really likes you, they’re gonna be upset when they see you snapping random patrons.

Side note: it pisses me off how sensitive ppl are when you’re filming with a dedicated camera in a spot where ppl film with their cellphones all the time. You’ll see this with first amendment auditors. It’s so dumb. A cellphone camera is still a camera!

Mmm what kind of camera is it? Digital Point and shoots are becoming trendy again so some girls will gravitate towards it. I'm a photographer so I know in the past I've done similar; chatted a girl up, hit the dance floor, then said "let's take a selfie!" I wouldn't lead with it, but you could use it to bring you closer.

But that was in environments where I was already using the camera to document my friends or if an artist was performing. I wouldn't use it with the intention of seduction.

Whatever helps you interact with people! I personally wouldn't be too fond of it but if it helps 🤷🏻‍♂️ just understand why some people may not like having their photo taken at a club... they're drunk and messy, they're outside with someone they shouldn't be, or they just don't like their photo taken. That's okay. That's why I would lead with words first and camera second.

This works well for events if you're solo. Concerts, Grand Openings, Parties (with people you know), festivals, etc.

Have your Instagram ready to show your work. Then work from there.

But honestly you need a passion for photography for this to be genuine. You don't want to use photography as your method to get girls.

Why don't you just learn to talk to people. You say live in an area with a good night life, even outside. So why are you looking for cheat codes, just accept that rejection will happen, learn to face ambiguity (take action regardless of guaranteed outcome) and just talk to people.

This sounds like you are looking a for shortcut, there is none. Granted if you really want to go this route, find a couple of mates, get them to wear suits and walk in front of you, opening doors for you, buying your drinks for you, etc so that way its even easier to not develop charisma. But lets be honest, its probably better for you in the long run, to become the person who can talk to other people.

Depends af. Sober people/girls will f you. Drunk people/girls would love to be photographed probably. Tldr I would avoid it. My opinion.
