When I found out my wife was having an affair, I had divorce papers served to her in 3 days at her work:) The divorce was final in 6 months. Sorry man, but it's over, start working on yourself and your future and start preparing for what's coming. Get a lawyer and document everything you can possibly document. Separate your money asap if you haven't already.

File together. Or file yourself. Find your decency not to cling to a person who doesn't want to be with you.

Also, make sure your emotions do not take care of your business. Consult a lawyer about how you split your stuff and your kids, if you have anything to split, of course.

It depends how she serves you and when she actually files. Somewhere between two weeks and never, if she didn’t actually file. Ask her.

Yup, been here man. I didn’t want it either, but once I knew her mind was made up. I got proactive. Protect your finances, separate your accounts. Put holds on them. Change passwords. Shit is about to get real. Lawyer up. You can grieve later, and you will. You are in a battle now. Do t sit around and let her dictate everything because you’re hurt and devastated right now. I know you are and it sucks. We’ve all been there. But if you don’t protect yourself now, you’re going to feel even worse later. Who knows, if she sees you manning up and taking the fight to her. She might reconsider. But, I would count on it. Also, keep emotions out of when you talk to her, keep it cold and calm. I’d also consider recording all conversations with her to protect yourself. Also, if she asks you to move out. Don’t do it. She wants the divorce, she can move out.

You need to get out of the victim mindset here and take active measures to protect yourself.

Your wife has been planning and is currently ahead of you.

Do you have a complete understanding of your finances, assets, liabilities? If not, start now.

You need to consult a lawyer this week or your wife and her gaggle of bitter, divorced friends are going to absolutely shit on you.

Your wife made the decision and now it's about protecting yourself. I know this sounds harsh but you HAVE to protect yourself. You can grieve the loss of your marriage but please, get a lawyer, be smart, and start protecting yourself and your money.
