I would never expect financial help from a person I'm dating.

I grew up in a culture and family that prioritized financial and life independence, and I expect the same from a partner. I cannot fathom dating someone for financial stability, as if my own instability should be a reason someone should date me, or that someone else should be a solution to my money problems.

I can’t begrudge anyone for dating for money more than for love, when the two are so entangled. But we might ultimately be better off pushing for more from society, rather than our partners.

That seems a great reason also for men also removing the provider role. And just looking at "financial reality"

Why I don't believe in equality if its not equality of outcomes.

I know so many relationships where the men has to pay 100% of there money into the relationship. And the women have like a ton of money they make as play money.

Why I never take that seriously. I belief how much you willing to give says a lot how much you suppose to be receive.

So the more you pull back. Or not willing to give how more it should be ok that men also wanna give less or sacrifice less for women.

Equality of outcomes and suffering. Is how you get respect. Why in many ways women lack respect if you want all freedoms but be seen as and treated as children when it benefits them. Ofcourse that does not work and unraveling society in many ways.

Why relationships is far less valued cause every part of it is seen as massively transactional. With no loyalty or willing to sacrifice or even stand by people in hardship. What makes relationships or marriage have no value at all. Its that simple. If there only there for the good and easy times. Not the hard or times of struggles.

Why its so laughable that they don't see or know how hard they telling on them selfs. And how it helps devalue relationships and marriage more and more by there flawed outlook on relationships or love.

The attitude in this article reminds me of the conservative opinion that if people already have everything they want, they'd be likely to do nothing.

If someone's only true motivation for dating is to gain financially, and something like UBI (Universal Basic Income) were to become a reality, the people who are happy with this will be less likely to pursue any dating, just as people who want a home would be less likely to if they owned their own free and clear.

Given the nature of hypergamy, this will do absolutely nothing. Everyone having in a situation where certain people are encouraged to want more will just enable women to stargaze while the average men dote on them with no reciprocity.

Something that I HAVE noticed later in life is that some women really aren't aware of how much money they spend on themselves, to the point where a man (pre COVID) could reach a suitable living circumstance with the same money she would say is insufficient. Relying on women to remain that financially irresponsible in order for men to present themselves as suitable while still practicing equity is about the only way something like this would succeed without everyone calling me a sexist.

I'd probably live the rest of my days flabbergasted at the idea that the same coworker I could start a family with has no thought or idea that they could have done what I did if they applied themselves. And I'd feel like I'm dating some irresponsible child who spends their money on trivial things when it could have been used to begin an empire of sorts...

Maybe give the article another read. The author recognizes that judging the relationship potential of men by their earning potential is regrettable. Yet, we are all trying to survive in hyper-capitalist society that extracts wealth from our labor to give it our corporate overlords. Our society has gotten worse, which is why older viewers - like myself - watch in grief how our society has gotten so enshittified for this generation of young daters. It's dating in late-stage capitalism.
