'Women mature sooner’ is one of the biggest lies society repeats to excuse double standards. If a boy plays with toys, he’s shamed. If a girl plays with dolls, she’s ‘nurturing’ and it’s celebrated. Truth is, men are forced to grow up faster because the world doesn’t hand us sympathy. We’re judged harder, expected to provide, and told to ‘man up’ from day one. Meanwhile, women are allowed to hold on to innocence and immaturity for much longer without consequence. That’s not maturity that’s privilege. Men mature under pressure because we have to, not because some feminist pseudoscience says otherwise.

Chimpanzees, Gorillas, Bonbos, Orangutans etc. also mature earlier..... So it might not necessarily be a good thing.

From what I've observed looking at longitudinal studies, later maturation might give males a slight advantage in intelligence (2-4 IQ points).

Here is a study by Gur et. al (2012) keep tracking of sex differences during development: Age Group and Sex Differences in Performance on a Computerized Neurocognitive Battery in Children Age 8−21.

It does seem that boys and girls do differ in their maturation, with certain things maturing earlier in one as compared to the other.

Researchers from Virgnia Tech examined 508 children (224 girls and 284 boys) ranging in age from 2 months to 16 years showed that the various regions of the brains in girls and boys develop in a different sequence.

Areas involved in language and fine motor skills mature about 6 year earliers in girls than boys.

Areas of brain involved in targeting and spatial memory mature four year earlier in boys than girls.[19]

Other research supporting this. In France it was found that two year old boys are three times as likely to be build a bridge out of blocks as compared to two year old girls.[20]

Researchers at Wellesley College found three and a half year old girls could interpret facial expressions as well or better than five year old boys could.

In girls, the superior temporal cortex and frontal cortex mature earlier. In boys, the areas involved in visuospatial processing and targetting: sensorimotor cortex and occipital cortex develop earlier.

Its always been a strange to me as well. Our entire childhoods, they say "Oh boys mature slower," so they'll hold boys back a grade, potty train them later, etc. But by the time that kid is 18, he's expected to just be at the same developmental level as his female peers, like the gap disappeared on his birthday. He's been told his whole life that he's elss than, and then women his age will ostracized him for being "immature." I don't know why people don't see this problem.

Oh and then they'll turn it back around on men when "boy moms" coddle their sons. That's clearly the mom's weird borderline fetish. How could it possibly be the child's fault?

Sure women mature earlier, but they also mature less. Hence why their psychology (overall) is so damn simple. Men as a whole evolve intellectually leaps and bounds beyond women, and this is demonstrable in many ways and in every day life. Hell, there's a reason why red pill game theory works so well (assuming you have the genetics to back it up), women's psychology and female nature in general is so simple that it is beyond easy to manipulate. Politicians and the media are well aware of this, women make the best zealots as we all know.

I don't believe it's pseudoscience, I think there's some truth to it. Of course there's going to be exceptions to the rule; there's going to be boys who maature early, and girls who mature late. But if anything that idea means your sister should have been held to a higher standard. I'm so sick and tired of boys being forced to grow up too soon and then people wonder why we have "manchildren" when the men didn't get to be children when they were still boys. And men's hobbies are seen as immature but women can have those same hobbies and its empowering.

Most of the arguments support earlier maturity of girls are related to one of three fallacies.

There's the organic fallacy, that female brains mature earlier than male brains. This eugenics argument is very popular with feminists and frequently gets airtime on men's forums like MensLib and LeftWingMaleAdvocates. This argument makes a false equivalence between brain growth and socialised maturity citing good scientific research as well as feminist confirmation bias trash, explaining the later maturity of male brains. However, this eugenics argument always forgets to qualify the later brain development of boys with one iimportant fact. Men's brains grow to a larger mass compared to women's brains, so the longer development has more to do with mass than maturity. The larger mass is regularly dismissed as irrelevant outside the eugenic "earlier maturity" fallacy.

Then there's the social maturity argument. This argument simply assumes that girls act more mature than boys at earlier ages. What this fallacy omits is that girls earlier maturity is primarily mimicry. Girls mimic the behaviours of their elders, as a component of their ingroup bias heirarchy. Their behavioural mimicry is highly competative and frequently violent. This fallacy also ignores boys creativity and non-conformity. Boys, rather than mimic their elders, will be more challenging of authority, particularly heavy handed feminist authority that only understands their challenging behaviour as a pathology or as violence.

The third fallacy is sexual maturity. Girls enter pubity earlier than boys. Not sure what this has to do with anythiong other than in group bias among women, but the assention to the "mother goddess" state appears to be used as some kind of trump card by many women.

Don't be fooled. Girls do not mature earlier than boys. It really just another survey kind of argument, an expression of women's violence trying to affirm their position of superiority over men and boys. Really, the maturity process for boys and girls is so different, they are not usefully comparable. The temptation to lable the longer maturity development of boys as a "delay" rather than a longer duration, is too much of a candi hit for man haters.

I saw a video of a boy who looked maybe 12-13 who was playin tag with pre schoolers and the comments were calling him a creep when he’s a kid.

It depends which feminists you mean. Many criticize the idea that ‘women mature earlier’ because it’s often used in creepy or predatory ways toward girls, or to push extra responsibility onto them. At the same time, girls and women are put in contradictory boxes, they’re infantilized in some scenarios but told they’re ‘mature for their age’ in others, whichever serves the agenda. Some feminists also point out that plushies, dolls, and similar things are more socially acceptable for girls because femininity itself has been tied to the juvenile, which is part of what they call a pedophilic patriarchy. Meanwhile boys get mocked for holding onto toys, showing how much of this is about cultural double standards.

I am sorry that happened to you. You should not have been shamed for bringing toys to school. That also has nothing to do with Feminist theory.

Acknowledging the boys may develop slower is a reason to allow boys to continue bringing toys to school.

I also experienced shaming for being attached to my doll when I was 5 years old. My brother pulled its hair out, because it was too girly to want a doll. The idea that boys should be treated like men comes from toxic conceptions of masculinity. My experience is that men are the most forceful enforcers of that culture.
