My lawyer was recommended to me from a friend and she seemed decent enough after our first meeting. I filed for divorce in Feb this year and my lawyer handled that part and the counter order well, I thought. My stbx’s lawyer is well-known and supposedly good, but my lawyer says she knows how she works. We were in court for a temp order in July and my lawyer actually fought for and won to get me paying less to my ex than I was already. Nearly everything went in my favor. However, my ex’s lawyer cancelled mediation the day before it was scheduled—said she didn’t have enough info from discovery. I gave my lawyer everything I had and expected her to give that to my ex’s lawyer, but idk if she just hasn’t or if it’s a matter of the other lawyer wanting more than can be expected. We still have no mediation scheduled, although my lawyer says it could happen in December. So a couple questions: Should I try and schedule mediation myself, without lawyers? Not sure my stbx will agree. Should I get a new lawyer if I find out mine, not my ex’s, is the one dragging her feet?
