Don’t confuse shy with introvert, they’re two different things. Maybe sometimes they overlap, but they’re different.

Introvert is someone who consumes more energy when it comes to social interactions, and needs time alone to “recharge”. It doesn’t mean they can’t stand a conversation, it’s just that they’re more comfortable at listening than talking.

Shy people are afraid to open themselves, for whatever legit reason, but it’s a very different dynamic. Then, when they’re “warmed up” and comfortable, only then, maybe they’ll open completely in unexpected ways.

In both cases, you need to gently lead, with confidence, ask a question and give your answer (“do you like X? i like it a lot because…”) then you wait for some reaction. It’s a slower and gentler escalation rhythm.

So yes, you need to do a great part of the work, but that’s game anyway.

Your date clearly needed some time for warmup. She agreed for 2nd date, that means she likes you. You need to make her comfortable, some humor, maybe some (very) light teasing, and micro escalations. Think of her like someone who’s entering in cold waters, she needs gradually to adapt before proceeding with a swim.

Don't worry about her verbalizing her feelings, if she's trying to open up but is just shy then she's doing enough.

Just move things forward and don't stop unless you get negative signs from her (backing away, stiffening up, and of course, her saying no).

It's easier to look for signs of disinterest than signs of attraction so just keep escalating unless a sign of disinterest shows up.

If she's quiet/shy and she wants another date with you, that's a super sign of interest.

Chicks like this need time to warmup before they open up, so normal social energy reading them is tough. So you gotta use your brain a little bit.

- shy chicks are not scared to completely reject someone - if you've ever approached a shy girl, they will literally run away or go 'no thanks', etc, and they have extremely low social tolerance/bandwidth. Like you can't be too much for them or its over whereas normal chicks would normally love it.

- the biggest in-person sign of interest from them is their attention, especially if its the type where she's extremely locked in listening. even if she doesn't smile, or reply, or give you anything but a poker face, her attention is her love language (sign of interest)

Its ok to be super literal with her, like directly ask her a question like "Hey, its challenging to read you - i can't tell if you're interested in me or not, if you're not, just let me know" - shy chicks will straight up answer honestly and it will be ok.

And along this same path, this is the same way you escalate her. You ask her directly, "is it ok if I give you a hug?" - for example. Remember, quiet chicks are super socially brittle, if you touch little bit outside their very small comfort zone, its over. So you can verbalize your escalations and get her consent first. I know this is lame, but its the safest path forward.

It’s her problem, not yours. Reserved people tend to observe from afar (mentally speaking) and very slow to open up. This is actually their problem. Analogically speaking; it’s not your job to try to find a correct key among possibly hundreds of keys to open her door. She can open it herself if she wants to.

If I were you I would just keep doing what you’re doing. If you’re patient enough then you might have her open up eventually. But if you’re not then I’d say just find other options.

I would be honest with myself "Was that fun? Am I still actually interested?" if yes I would send her a message after the date like "that was fun, we should do it again sometime!" then I would gauge her interest based off the reply.

If she responds with anything less than enthusiasm or confirming that she had a good time and wants to see me again, I'd likely move on.

You don't have to date anyone you don't communicate well with. If you're doing all the talking, that's going to be a very tiring and one sided relationship.
