Like the Maverick virus from Megaman X, instead of understand that the robots are only behaving that way because of their experiences coupled with their new or inspired ability to act freely, the virus is blamed instead of the fact that everyone treated robots poorly for those thoughts to exist at all... Instead of reason with the free thinkers, they are destroyed. (As with actual people, not all mavericks are the same, but seem to earn the same ire nonetheless. Even otherwise innocent robots are falsely accused of this and forced to be exactly what society expected them to be.) That's my interpretation of it, at least.

It's disgustingly familiar... How what was typically exclusively for a virus became something that encompasses whatever needs to be destroyed without consideration.

That's the evolution of the word incel to me. Some word that had a concrete meaning but it was altered for the sake of stealing the disgust associated with the word and applying it to people undeserving of it.

To be completely honest, as a woman, I don't really make most of my decisions based on whether or not I think it makes me sexually attractive to other people. Male attention isn't the be all end all of existence.

Similarly, I assume that most men don't make the decisions they make, such as what to post on reddit, with the goal of impressing women. Female attention is not the be all end all of existence.

As a guy, I want to see the same things most of you want: to be treated as a human being, not just as someone's stereotype of what a man is to them. I don't treat women violently or with disrespect, I try to lead other men by example to be the same. Choosing to remain single and unattached is a male power mode if it is chosen from adequacy and not lack of self esteem. This capability is the basis of traditional male spirituality, in the idea of a celibate priesthood, and even “brotherhood” based on adventure.
