What kills me the most about this is that it's so close to the real point.

I used to be a designated driver for my friend group because I don't drink alcohol. The amount of times I had to intervene and prevent my friends from taking drinks from strangers, or going home with someone no one knew, was staggering. To the point that I eventually told them I wasn't doing it anymore.

You SHOULD be wary of ALL PEOPLE. Not just men, not just women, but strangers who are in a position to act maliciously in the first place. Obviously you don't live your life in constant and total fear, but the whole "They don't know WHICH man" argument is just applying basic survival instincts that should be taken into consideration about anyone, not just men.

Right, so instead of swimming safely in designated areas or other proven approaches… they’ll outlaw swimming.

Then they’ll outlaw walking on the beach. Then they’ll outlaw bright swim suits. Then they’ll outlaw all swim suits. Then it’s no swimming in swimming pools.

None of it will make sense but they’ll bury the arguments in fancy faux academic jargon. Dorsal Fin Theory. Scaleism. Lots of slogans about how society is “shark infested”.

Everyone will be miserable. Women will all keep swimming on the down-low. Internalized feeding frenzy. And whenever one gets hurt it’s just proof of how shark infested society really still is.

Women will never be safe from sharks.

I personally have no issue with women, people of any race, which religion etc. All I ever asked for was the same respect in return. Equality isn't some bumper stick slogan if it only interests me, myself and I alone. As for all sharks or bears, then go play with them then. Im also not going to be playing games with people over word salad. I am more of a egalitarian because that word covers everyone. if that's not radical enough or its too boring, o well. Supporting human rights doesn't need to be loudly screamed at the top of my lungs. So sure, as a straight white male, of course I support equality. Anything less isn't enough. I don't do hate groups or any supremacist group in any setting. Any group that ends in supremacy, usually tends to end up just another miserable hate group that most people just ignore for their typical bs. Like this stunt hasn't been done time and time again by any group that wants to feel superior to anyone else. Not doing that no matter who or what the group it is.

This reminds me of an episode of the Bad Hasbara podcast (a podcast with a couple of cohosts who are anti-Zionist Jews). Basically, they talked about the hasbara talking point that Israel is a country where Jews can be safe, and how uncomfortable it makes them when non-Jewish people say those same kinds of things. "Are you saying I'm not safe here? Are you going to do something to me???"

That kind of rhetoric actually makes the person sound like a Nazi. And it's the same thing happening here, except feminists applaud it. Browbeating your male parter until they say "all men are dangerous" is not a win. It's not a win for your partner to say "I am a predator". How do they not realize this?

But the thing is that it really is all men to them. And they have this cognitive dissonance with that stance, because they have partners, friends, siblings, parents, coworkers and more who are all men and who have never even thought to harm them. So it's "all men" and the proof is... whatever scary story they last saw on social media. Because that's what 90% of it is. Online content that is designed to keep women scared and feeling like they're under attack, meanwhile the vast majority are totally safe the vast majority of the time.

There's those stories of people getting their parents to stop watching fox news every day and how much they changed for the better, how much happier they were etc.

I really think there needs to be a similar move to get feminists to hop off of social media for a while, or at least change their internet habits. I am confident that something very similar would happen. You're not in imminent danger, you're just spending all day feeding your brain with content that tells you that you're in danger.

Not only is the shark analogy completely sexist, and using it to justify sexism don't actually make any sense, but they are also using a story that was proven to be misrepresentative. It was completely debunked.

Men are not sharks or bears. They are not animals, which are incapable of basic communication and reasoning. Men are people. You may never really know a person's true nature or motivation, and the same can be said of women, but that doesn't justify treating them like they're animals. Ever.
