You seem to be asking this sincerely, so I'll answer you sincerely. As a male you are an acceptable target of all kinds of mistreatment, but it's possible for you to get lucky and not be on the receiving end of it.

Here's a non-comprehensive list of examples of how anti-male discrimination has affected me personally. Some of the bias and discrimination came from women, some of it from other men. I'll start when I was a kid and move up from there:

- When being taught etiquette at age six, my (female) teacher drilled the point home to all the boys that "ladies first" was an important rule. When I questioned this, I was punished by the teacher.

- When I was seven, I was physically and verbally bullied by a group of older nine and ten year old girls. When I told my teacher, she just didn't believe me, because the leader of that group of bullies was in her class three years prior and "she wouldn't do that". The bullying continued, and I was further bullied in the future by both boys and girls for even admitting that I had been bullied.

- When I was ten, my school sent the girls in my class to a special field trip to a university. This field trip was funded by a non-profit called Women in STEM. The boys stayed back, and were told that we had enough advantages. Mind you we were ten fucking years old and had absolutely nothing to our names.

- When I was sixteen, the police were called on me (by a middle aged woman) on suspicion of possessing/consuming drugs simply because my friends and I were laughing too hard and this made her feel unsafe. The police came, manhandled us, searched us, and questioned us for hours with extreme levels of aggression and very invasive pat-down searching that I know they wouldn't dare subject a teenage girl to. When I tried to pull away from their grip, I was handcuffed and taken to juvenile detainment for three days on disorderly conduct charges before being released. As soon as I came back, people (male and female) mockingly asked me if I got raped in there.

- When I was eighteen I applied for an impacted college major that required very competitive standards to get into. I almost made it, but wasn't accepted in the end. Being female was among the qualifying factors to get in and counted positively toward admission eligibility. Being male did not. I needed to take another year to boost my GPA and eligibility qualifications and ended up graduating late (and getting a later start on life) because my university favored female applicants on a systemic level.

- At nineteen, one of my professors thought I was being flippant when I asked and honest question and she flew off into a rant about how I'm a white, straight, male and shouldn't question a subject that involved gender/sexuality. I'm not even straight. I was basically forced to out myself as bisexual to get this professor, an authority figure, to lay off of me.

- At twenty-one I badly embarrassed a drunk girl at a party when I corrected her after she very incorrectly claimed that Cinco de Mayo wasn't a real historical event and that it was invented by beer companies. Some people laughed at her, and she got so angry that she screamed and stormed out. I learned about an hour later that she was planning to call the police and accuse me of raping her. The only reason I dodged that bullet was because her drunkenly-constructed plan was very flimsy, and her friend revealed her plan to me because the drunk girl had tried to persuade her into corroborating her accusation to the police. If her friend hadn't made the level-headed choice to warn me, I would have been fucked.

- At twenty-two there was a girl who resented me and eventually fucking hated me because I entered her friend group and started to become more liked by our mutual friends than her. She'd frequently start conflicts with me. When I started ignoring her verbal instigations, she just walked up to me and hit me in the face. There were barely any consequences for her other than "hey that's not cool". She hit me because she knew that I wouldn't hit her back, and that if I did hit her back people would take her side, because I am a man and she is a woman.

- Now, in my late 20s, I occupy a social environment where man-hating is fucking everywhere. It's completely socially acceptable to hate me for my sex, despite being raised to believe that it's unacceptable for me to hate women for their sex. There's a constant background noise of misandry all around me, and it really wears me down. If I call it out, I just get told "misandry isn't real" or "and who set that system up".

And these are just events that I can point to. Most misandry is in the little, day-to-day things. Injury or hazard to your health is less concerning. You are expected to give more and take less. You are humiliated by both men and women for being colorful or expressive. Your sexuality is treated as predatory and evil. Your very presence is treated as a threat, with women's subjective sense of "safety" at your male presence being treated as more legitimate than the emotional pain that comes with being treated as a threat for simply existing in your own body. You are punished for expressing sadness and you are punished for expressing joy. You might be occasionally rewarded for expressing anger, but even that circles back around to being a reason to punish you.

Misandry is real. Men and women both participate in anti-male discrimination (though it often presents in different ways). The myth of male privilege is used as a justification to make you an acceptable target for all kinds of abuse. Sometimes it's verbal and emotional abuse. Sometimes it's quiet, like the neglect given to the interests of boys and young men who are trying to find their place in society. Sometimes it's deadly, like the weaponization of women "feeling unsafe" to vilify men and mark them as threats to be eliminated. Sometimes it's seemingly civil, like the way that the most dangerous, disgusting, and body-ruining jobs are foisted onto men as some sort of masculine duty.

I'm not saying this to claim that misogyny isn't real, or that we live under "the matriarchy" or anything. I don't believe in the false dichotomy that discrimination means that Group A is a privileged oppressor that controls everything and Group B is an oppressed victim of Group A. I'm just saying that anti-male discrimination is real and actually has a tangible effect on people's lives.

If you want to learn more, look up the concepts of "Male Disposability" and "Gynocentrism", most misandry stems from those two things. You might find that some of it has actually negatively impacted you, but it's so normalized that you just tolerate it.

The correct answer here is: Your lived experience is not representative of the majority lived experience of men.

If you ever get arrested and charged with a crime I guarantee you will see first hand the bias and discrimination within the legal frame work towards men

I have personally felt systemic discrimination based on my gender all the way back in high school where I got lower marks than the girls despite my work being on par with what they had done.

I've had women at the park / mall look at me with suspicion and even report me to mall security as a "Predator" based simply on their perceived notion that I "Look like a sexual predator"

So yeah.. just because you haven't seen the discrimination men in our society face, that doesn't mean its not there..
It also doesn't help that feminists do their best to down play the discrimination we face.

Ever been to school? Ever been convicted of a crime and gotten sentenced to 60% more time than a woman for the same crime? Have you ever been forced to pay child support even though you didn't want to be a father and perhaps it wasn't even your kid? And no, sex is not a consent to parenthood. Just ask any pro choicer.

Men and women have privileges in different areas.

When it comes to programs for assistance, women definately have the advantage in this realm. Support structures are to the advantage.

Also women who do apprenticeships have a much higher take home pay compared to their male counterparts that are apprentices. This was to help promote getting more women into apprenticeships.

Charisma can be a big factor, those who have it, tend to have better social status.

Grew up a single child. From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen. Between my mother and my older sisters the abuse was horrible. From ridicule, to full on beatings knowing I could do nothing. You my friend are the lucky one in a million. Not all of us grew up like that. Some of us are from third world countries, and grew up knowing these burdens would be ours.
