I thought about this meme. It basically looks at marriage purely in terms of transactions. And I outlined my objections to it based on a Cost Benefits Analysis - Men get a much better value for these services by outsourcing them: by hiring a maid, nanny, cook, hooker, and so on.

But we can also look at it from a Contractual viewpoint because a marriage is really a contract enforced by the State. Prior to 1867 in the advent of a divorce, men would retain the children and property. Women would be paid Alimony if they were able to prove that they were acting in good faith. Up until the early 1970's a divorce could only occur if there were specific faults such as infidelity, abandonment, cruelty, insanity, etc. After which no-fault divorce laws supplanted at fault divorce.

From 1867 onwards a woman would get custody of the children except in very rare instances. And a husband would be ordered to pay alimony and child support but enforcement was somewhat difficult until the 1990s. During the 1990's several things happened, laws were amended and the Federal Government through the State Government's started to enforce Child Support. Also the VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) was passed with very punitive penalties in criminal court, but no such law or resources were available to protect men. Also Spousal Rape laws were passed.

Combined with no-fault divorce, there became no way to ensure a woman's compliance on her end of the marriage contract and no penalties if she violated the marriage contract.

Since Women are by nature Hypergamous and the Courts and Laws favor the lower earning spouse in the advent of a divorce, women by default would financially benefit from pressuring men into marrying them and then initiating a divorce after a specified period of time has passed; to maximize the amount of a divorce settlement on her end.

So both contractually and transactionally marriage is a horrible deal for men and should be avoided at all costs. As for children it costs about 200K for an egg from a donor, and a surrogate mother to bring the child to term, and the IVF procedure and hospital bills. Average pay for a Nanny is about 30K per year.

A maid averages about $80-120 for 4 hours of house cleaning.

A cook averages about $140 for about 3 hours of cooking meals for the week.

A hooker I don't know what the going rates are...but whatever they are they are a hell of a lot cheaper than a wife or girlfriend. About equivalent to 3 nights of dating..
