Pretty much any improvement you wish to do in your life - weight loss, career goals, education, business, writing books, even your new home etc. just keep it a secret and just do it. Nosy toxic people often have too much idea that they absolutely will not work for themselves and expect you to do all the hard work while they take the compliments for "inspiring you". And instigate pointless drama when you don't follow their "orders". It is not worth it.

Yesss! Don’t tell a man ANY of your insecurities. You hate your hair, don’t like your butt, wish your nose was smaller? Keep. It. To. Yourself.

When you start whining and complaining about your appearance in front of a man you are devaluing yourself. He needs to see you as a confident woman in order to respect you.

As OP said, men are used to women complaining about their appearances. Don’t. Come off as a confident ass bitch. If you really need to vent, call your girlfriend or your mom. Don’t indulge in that catharsis with a man.

from personal experience, it's a good idea not tell most people that you want to lose weight, or any kind of deeply personal thing regarding self-improvement. i used to tell people about how i wanted to improve x y z thing about myself, and was always met with invalidation or criticism from jealous friends who didn't want me to improve myself, and in turn, it delayed my progress.

remember to never put yourself down in front of others, because when you do, you reinforce a power dynamic that positions you below everyone else, and thats when bad things hapen.

That was a big mistake. My ex helped make me put on 30 pounds from taking me out and encouraging me to drink and indulge. Once I realized what I was doing, I took control and lost 45lbs whether he liked it or not.

Never ever tell a man you were treated bad in the past! Men only respect power, so if you tell them you were cheated on or treated bad they’ll just see you as weak. They’ll also think you were deserving of that treatment and try to figure out why those things happened to you. They’re not socialized to be empathetic and kind like women. They don’t understand those emotions. Do not be naive and think that it’ll bring you closer and create intimacy because they will just replicate your past trauma as a power play.
