I am a long time lurker, first time poster, so I hope my message is not deleted. I ran across something interesting at work the other day that I felt compelled to share.

So at my job, whenever you are hired you must film an introduction video about yourself answering standard questions (who are you, what do you do, etc.) It sits in a database that anyone can access, and helps coworkers get to know one another a little better. So i was going through some of them the other day and ran across this gem.

The question asked "What is your greatest achievement?"

This female coworker responded "When my husband got his PhD"

I tried watching this answer a few times, because it just didn't make sense to me. Interestingly enough she doesn't even try to spin it like "oh I helped him study" or anything. Just describes it as an achievement as if marrying someone with the drive to get one is something to be proud of. It made me fucking sick.

What's funny is watching the rest of her answers, which are responses to questions about her, she used "we" a lot referring to her husband, as if she doesn't have any individual qualities or contributions herself.

I suppose this isn't anything new to what many of you already know. But I thought it was an interesting example of the thought process of some women.
