I can only speak for myself, but when I was dating, I would always avoid the "hot, suave" dudes. In fact, the main reason I didn't think my now-husband was "marriage material" was because he was so hot. & actually, he was not marriage material when I met him -- neither of us were.

I always aimed for "attractive to me," smart, & intellectually curious / interesting. That landed me good, good-looking men, though values not always aligned, which eventually ended the relationships.

The worst relationship I had was with a guy who had just recently lost weight / made $$ / come into his own socially; he was so deeply insecure that he constantly tried to put me down to maintain a power dynamic (he saw me as "out of his league," & he became insufferable & eventually abusive).

Happiness comes from within not externally.

Attraction is critically important in a relationship or marriage. My husband and I disagree on plenty of things, but he's a good man and I find him incredibly attractive so it works. I could meet the most "compatible" man in the world, but if I'm not attracted to him the marriage will fail. That's just how it is.

Morality and character are secondary complements for unworthy women. If a woman values your certain traits (money, etc.) over your character, that means her own character is poor. Thus, if you still pursue her, that means you also value those traits (attractiveness, etc.) over character. So in that case you would deserve each other.

When men make statements about how all women only care about money or appearance, I find that the aforementioned scenario is often the case. These men are selecting highly attractive women and become blind to existence of less traditionally attractive women who are less likely to put such an emphasis on attractiveness. If you want to find a quality woman who values morality over money, don't choose women primarily based on their physical attractiveness. Anyone, man or woman, who has a solid head on their shoulders knows that money, appearance, and social status are all fleeting and absolutely will not strengthen a relationship the same way morality or character will. If every woman you're attracted to only likes you for your money, that means you're looking in the wrong places. That's on you. There is an abundance of good women out there, but you need to be open to them if you want to find them.

As a very, very small addendum, however, sometimes money or physical fitness has direct correlation to character, so it can be an easy way for a woman to start understanding a man's character before she gets the chance to get to know him further. If a man is very fat, chances are he's either very lazy or struggling with addiction. She can't know that for certain before she actually talks to him, but it can be a sign that his character is lacking. People have to judge each other on some small level before getting to know each other, because time is valuable and most people can't afford to invest time into every person they come across. It's not a woman's job to stick around and wait for every potential partner to get his act together.

Disagree. While looking for marriage , morals and character were at the top. The other qualities are nice but won’t keep a quality person around and won’t keep a relationship/marriage happy or together.

I completely disagree. Wealth, appearance, and social status are things I considered when dating, to the point that an extreme was a dealbreaker, but multiple differences in religion, politics, his major moral values? Why even bother?

Attraction and shared values are both important and I don’t think you can have a long term relationship without either. But you can be attracted to someone who is, say, objectively a 6/10 and have a fine marriage, but your marriage is gonna be hell if you only agree on 60% of important values-related things

Maybe I'm young and naive. Im pretty red-pilled but I want to also be successful to a degree. I could never ever ever 100% rely on someone financially, because you never know what can happen. No matter how well you think you know someone, it could be like thunder from a clear sky. So no, wealth and social status, I don't really care about. Middle class is fine, I grew up middle class. Maybe my way of thinking will change, because I'm only 20, but I'm trying to be as unmaterialistic as I can (while ofc taking care of my appearance and whatnot).

Personality is what makes it for me. Kind-heartedness and a broad mind. Looks are also important, I couldn't imagine being with someone who I don't find physically attractive at all. Personality and appearance both have to be good for me.
