I set up a reservation, got the babysitter. We went to dinner. Everything was good until, as I was talking, she pulls the phone out and texts something to her friend.

The text was a quick reply, nothing lengthy, but it doesn't matter; it was disrespectful. I understand that it may be an emergency (with the kids), but she only had to look at the phone and ignore it if it wasn't.

I said, mid sentence, "put the phone away."

"But it's just ..."

"Cool. Put the phone away."

"You're making me want to leave," she said as she put the phone away.

We were done with dinner at that point and I was waiting on the final check. With the phone put away, I carried on with leaving and I didn't give it a second thought. She apparently was now carrying discord with her about it.

We went to a small bakery and ordered some deserts and I had a cappuccino. Things seemed fine, in there. We joked, talked, and seemed otherwise normal. We finished that and walked to the car.

I decided to take a detour home down a fun, windy road. My car handles great and the little turbo 2.0 is peppy in the curves. I never broke the speed limit, but I accelerated out if the turns. The goal, of course was exciting, where are we going driving for her. At the top of the this road is an old make out point from when she was in high school.

Well, all through the drive, "can you slow down,". So I slow a bit. "You don't have to do the speed limit but don't speed up in the turns." So I tone it down a bit. Another turn, and she's in with the "don't go..." And before she could finish the sentence I turned the car around and went home.

I did not want to deal with this constant bitching about driving. After the phone, her comment, and her complaining about the driving, I drove home in silence... Fearing I might argue.

We got home, moved a kid to bed, paid the babysitter, then I went upstairs, changed, came back down and watched TV. I wasn't in the mood for sex and The other cockblock was awake anyways.

Cue the "are you mad" banter.

"I'm not mad. We went on a date, it got awkward, nothing was going to happen in the time we had, we had to get home, were home, is still awake. I'm not mad."

As she's in bed with the big cockblock still awake and being a little asshole (in rare form... A great end to a great night) she texts me, "I had all intentions of coming home and doing it until your attitude changed and I could tell that you would rather argue"

I ignored the text.

This morning was the silent treatment. I went about as normal: tried to make normal daily conversation. She answered short and curt. I maintained that level... Normal for me. She starts crying in the living room while I am in the kitchen. I ignored that too. I even asked her a question while she was crying. She answered. I completed the task that required the question.

Later on, "are you going to my parents?" (Sunday night dinner at her parents is a normal thing.)

"Yes. After the gym."

And that's where we are.
