This isn't the usual post. If you like data, you might find this interesting.

I have been trying to improve how I text with my wife since I posted a couple of weeks ago regarding that awful overt dread attempt.

(Remember for this year - I'm working away from home for 2 months at a time and I'm 7 hours ahead of the USA.)

I'm trying to minimize initiating the texts based on the general advice I received here following that last post. As a result of me stopping, she also stopped initiating most of the time. I went from everyday texting to 1-2 full days between texts. This bothers me. Rather than text her about it, I did my job.

Part of my job is managing and presenting data... so I exported our text conversation for the last 60 days from my phone and threw it into excel to generate some graphs per day.

Some data:

  • When she starts a text conversation, my average response time is 20 minutes.
  • When I start a text conversation, her average response time is 72 minutes.
  • I send 60% of our texts.
  • My texts have 25% more words.

It probably means nothing, but I'm going to continue keeping my texts to a minimum. I'm an obsessive texter. You can see my shift in texting behavior after "the incident".
