I am early 40's and my wife is mid 30's. I am in pretty good shape no dad bod or anything. I have friends, hobbies, and a pretty interesting life and an overall good relationship with my wife.

However, I have a dispute I have been having recently with my wife over finances. I am a physician and I received a very large inheritance being that I am the only child and no cousins from a successful family. So I have a high income and net worth. Which are shielded by trusts and prenups thankfully. The gist of the dispute is that I financially support 2 friends of mine. We have been friends since high school. They are 2 good guys overall, but unfortunately have been down on their like for quite sometime. I pay their rent, food, vacation, video game expenses, and pocket cash if they want to take a woman on a date or something like that. This really isn't a big deal to me since it is a very small percentage of income and its been going on for quite a bit that I cant even remember how it started.

I believe my wife is upset because this money isn't spent on her. In the past I have told her if she goes into "bitch mode" I will cut her discretionary spending. I only had to do this once and haven't had to do it again. Another issues is she wanted me to pay for her niece's college. Her niece is really an unintelligent person and was rude to me before so I have little desire to pay for her college. Wife then throws a fit or accuses me of not loving her. How best to handle this situation and other financial disputes?
