ELECTION: Child, I'm over it. Im never living in this city again. Washington, DC was in fucking MOURNING over Trump winning. Schools were closed. The National Cathedral had special services for those who needed PRAYER in this time of STRIFE. Work had a special staff meeting full of coffee and doughnuts for those who 'needed a pick me up'. Where the fuck were my doughnuts when nine churchmembers were slaughtered in WORSHIP AT A CHURCH IN SOUTH CAROLINA?? Clearly Progressives only care about the tears of minorities when it gains them votes for the white house, cuz otherwise, no one at work gave any fucks.

I lost a cousin that I defended for almost a decade because she lost all 'respect for me as a human being' over my support of Trump. My friends have decided, despite my PROFESSIONAL RECORD of supporting and advocating for the financial inclusion and civil rights of ALL PEOPLE that now I must be either a bigot or condoning bigotry. They now question my intellect. They ask me...How could an educated black woman like yourself ever support Trump? No, FUCK YOU for your closed minded thinking.

Even if Trump sits in the White House, DC and all its operatives are bleed blue, Progressive, one world govt nutters. It would be unbearable to live there. Every nonprofit, every K street firm, they're almost all neocons or progressives. No thanks. I can't wait to move.

Good: I'm moving yay! 1.5 weeks and then I'm back home! I have some interviews lined up so I'm excited. And thanks to members like /u/Camille11325 , /u/madscientistlove , /u/_wingnut_ , and others, I finally know how to socialize like a normal person :V So I have several groups I'm super interested in joining so I'm not concerned about meeting people, including women's bible studies, young professional groups and local republican HQs.

Bad: Since the election, social media has been unfuckingbearable. If there was ever reason to delete your facebook haha! Also I want to tell one of my best friends that I'm moving but she lost her sister to cancer like a week ago so the timing is shit. I hope to tell her, in passing, when I meet with her for dinner sometime this week.

Ugly: Adult acne sucks. I really want to try out curelogy and get some a-grade stuff.

Good: After a long and stressful week, J and I disconnected and headed up to the mountains for a few nights. It was nice to relax, play board games, cook, hike, etc and get our minds off what's going on. We climbed our last 14'er of the year, bringing us to 15. Considering we did one last year, and I'm obese, I'm happy with where we are. It's always wild to me that whenever we hike, I'm the only fat person we see!

Bad: Still no movement on the job front. Last week it was hard to keep myself going all day with the time change. I hope this week is better. We ended up going to sleep at 8:00 a handful of nights. J has been incredibly stressed and upset over a lot of things, I don't always know what he needs.

Ugly: While moving the last of his things out, our old roommate "accidentally" knocked down a bunch of things on my altar. One of them was a one-of-a-kind piece that is now useless and broken. When I brought it up, he said "Oh sorry" and that was it. It was a special gift from my Abuela, and I'm doing my best to fix it, but I don't think it can be. He refused to hand over keys, stating that he "might have forgotten something" so we had the locks changed last night. I can't believe it got to that point -- he used to be our friend.

Good: My SO and I had a lot of time in the car together this weekend, and we made up a bunch of silly car games and found a few on the web, and we had so much fun! Lots of laughter and funny conversations. He was smiling ear to ear and kept reaching over to hold my hand or my knee and it was just the best.

Bad: I got home later than planned on Sunday night (we were out of town) and did not have the energy to go to the store and grab a few things for meals today. It's no big deal, I can just go after work, but it means today's lunch is very haphazard and I'll probably be hungry again an hour later. Lesson learned: plan ahead, Mabeol.

Ugly: I've had a few really nasty breakouts recently. I'll confess that I really don't get acne much, so my frustration is peanuts compared to the ongoing battle that some women deal with, but it's just like... ugh, come on, face. Get your shit together.

As context, my husband's grandmother died on Saturday, and she was an important figure in our lives. She was always lovely to me and gave me some valuable advice when we were dating so my reflections are sort of related to this.

Good: I felt so lucky to have my husband this week, we have had romantic and sweet together time and sad, stressful times. He has been strong and done the right thing for us, and stayed true to his convictions. Seeing him dressed smartly to attend the remembrance sunday service and him gently explaining to our daughter she couldn't go with him was like a little picture of what I love about him.

Bad: I've been having more morbid thoughts and a bit too much worrying about illness and mortality, i always get a bit that way after a bereavement :(

Ugly: I'm worried about having another baby, but really kind of want to have one if there was no pregnancy difficulties, pain or risk of PPD. I think my husband would really want another, and I feel guilty feeling scared. It's messing with my head and I found myself getting resentful watching my husband make a little baby laugh, but then I'm angry with myself because the pressure is all in my head. Stupid hamster!

Good: Iowa beat Michigan on Saturday night and it was awesome! Also, we got new furniture on Saturday! Felt good going to the dump and chucking our old sofa into the dumpster - I may be weird but going to the dump is one of my favorite things. It feels so good to chuck stuff in a dumpster!

Bad: Weight has been slowly creeping up due to all of the celebration beers lately - going to have to stop drinking beer for a while and really hit the gym hard. I haven't really been running since starting my new job because I hate running outside unless it's a race, but my new gym doesn't have an indoor track. Also, I don't know how to use a treadmill and at this point I am too embarrassed to ask how [insert Chris Pratt meme here]. :)

Ugly: One of my best friends has basically labelled me the enemy thanks to the election results. I had been staying silent about it all out of respect to everyone I care about who was on the losing side, but I posted an article I found funny (this one) and it basically lead to more hurt feelings. I'm disappointed by a number of things here, namely that something that was intended to be funny was once again offensive, and that I'm very well losing one of my best friends over this. I don't really want to just wash my hands and say "Fine, if you can't handle this like an adult then I'm done with you" but that's not outside the realm of possibility at this point and it makes me sad.

Bonus: I don't have a cat, but here's a dog on our new couch.

Good: So last week I discovered The Pioneer Woman. Well, let me rephrase that. I have accepted her into my life full-time now. HAHA. I made a few of her recipes. ALL of which were a huge hit in my house but not only that. I was able to keep on my diet with her foods. Which I found really surprising.

Also, I have been practicing the art of detachment. I have dropped a few issues that had been bugging me with the simple phrase "Tend to my own garden". You know what this has brought me... My SO saying "Why are you so perfect?" He hadn't said it in a while and so him saying it really reminded me that these past few months I've been dealing with a whole lotta shit and have been bringing that home with me. So my detachment has been noticed and I'm grateful for some other subs for help with that.

My diet and working out has been great. I've even been throwing on makeup when I'm just going to be hanging around the house. I will note however, that I have found over the past month that I've been doing this diet, I can usually gauge how stressed I am by my desire for carbs. This past 2 days I've been completely detatched and I haven't wanted a single bread but when I am high stress I want all the pasta, rice, and cake I can fit on a bulkie roll. I'm going to continue to monitor this and hopefully it will continue to help me in my quest for equanimity.

Bad: Nothing Ugly: NADA

edit Bonus: So I always like looking at things from every angle and recently I've been surrounded by very very upset people. I live in one of the bluest states (if not the most). So it is understandable that the state is not in a good way. But I found this video to hold some truth to it. Not only on an election level but as a human level too. I thought it might be good to share. I'm surrounded by hate and anger right now so I'm just trying to find positive in life. Enjoy.

Good

Saw a friend that I haven't seen for about two years. She moved to the other side of the country and came to visit for a few days. We had lunch at our mutual friend's house and had an amazing time!
A few weeks ago I was worried about my new boss' attitude and the change she would bring at work, but my worries were based on miscommunication. She has been truly awesome. I am still leaving in a few months for other reasons (mainly related to commuting), but there will be absolutely no burnt bridges. I explained the situation to her and she was extremely understanding and supportive, and we will definitely keep in touch.
A few of my female relatives and I were having a discussion, and at one point one of them said things like "Gender roles are hard-coded in our DNA" and "It's my husband who's the head of our household". Oh, the warm feelings I had at that moment...
Did some apple jelly (first time ever!) and applesauce with the bazillion apples I have, and I canned them with the water-bath method. It worked like a charm! It was my first time canning stuff and it was much easier than I thought!

Bad

I have neglected the RPWives subreddit and IRC due to IRL reasons. I feel like I'm missing out on many good things right now. :(

Ugly

I have to change my skincare and makeup routine for winter. What worked perfectly in summer now doesn't work anymore because my skin is becoming excessively dry and my eczema is becoming much, much worse, especially on my hands.
