Yes, please!! Ladies do NOT wait on some husband to buy a house. I bought my house 8 years before even meeting my eventual husband- and when the marriage ended, I still had my house because it was always mine and never his. Now I have two houses that I own all by myself and I couldn’t be prouder of myself. I will always have security and a home to call my own. No man can take that away from me.

I’ve actually dated men that have come into my beautiful home and looked around and I can see it in their eyes as they make mental plans to move in. Lol NOPE

Best thing to take away from this is that privileged can be what your family is leaving you in terms of financial assets. Most male friends I know will have houses, assets, trust funds, savings, and other finical means left to them by their parents.

Women need to be honest to themselves, is your family leaving you these same things, or are you funding your own tuition, buying your own cars, buying your first home without a family down payment? Are you coming from a single mother household where she didn't have the financial intelligence to build and leave you anything?

Depending on how you're answering these things, making shared investments with a male counterpart could easily keep you and if you have them, your kids, from building the generational wealth or just wealth in period to keep you not only safe but thriving in your lifestyle.

She makes a great example of looking at your boyfriend/husband and seeing how much wealth do they have in places other then the income from their job. Now compare it to yours, does it match up? Most of the time not likely and in that case you absolutely should be having investments in your name only. If you're an equal couple, you're equal financially as well.

YES! I lost thousands of dollars because I bought a house with my ex and he decided to leave me for another woman as soon as we bought it. Please don’t be like me. Be smart and protect your finances. He lost money too because scrotes don’t care. He knew he was never going to fully commit to me and he bought a house with me anyway. They will fuck you AND themselves over just for some new pussy. They will destroy any and everything in their way if it means getting what they want. Do not combine finances. Do not open accounts together. Do not make any investments together. I repeat... But yeah I was planning on getting a house in 2020 (with the help of my parents) But we all know about the pandemic. I’ll never leave the house I paid for with my blood, sweat, and tears. If I do, I want it written in our prenup that he’ll have to pay me the entire value of it if he cheats or defrauds the marriage in any way. Obviously I’m not marrying any one who is below my tax bracket next time.

I wholeheartedly agree. Best to secure your own investments and future. My ex LVM kept talking about buying a flat together in the 'future', meanwhile dude was already in debt though he made more than me at the time, because of heavy partying and kept throwing the money he didn't have. Meanwhile I was a pickme at the time, I still had to clarity of mind to think that I would never ever put myself in a position where I could risk having to pay for someone else's debt or financial inability. Life can be hard enough when you're on your own.

I'm finding more and more these days that men seem to see relationship and moving in together just as a way to cut off their expenses. Couple of men I've dated as I'm reaching near my 30s kind of displayed a willingness to move in fast together. While when you live in an expensive city, like mine, it can be tempted to think it could alleviate some of your financial burdens and give you more money to live in a partner, it's important to keep in mind, that it's double edged and can very well turn out to be the reserved and give you more to spend on. I know way more couple where the women pay for the most and the guy doesn't work than the other way around.

I've often been mocked or called a cold bitch by pick me friends in the past for saying money is important in a relationship and one of my biggest fear about marriages was that I could potentially lose money or some investments. But the reality remains, that contracting a loan or investing together, owning jointly, might as well be the death of your savings and earnings.

I bought my first place on my own, I scrimped and saved and lived on a brutal budget to get the down payment, then made additional mortgage payments to really smash the critical point when the interest accruing means you barely touch the principal. Because of this, in a couple of weeks I'll be closing on my first investment property, too. Also on my own.

The security of owning your own home provides cannot be understated. Get your palace, Queens!
