Male disposability through and through. The child is provided for, the mother is provided for, and the dad.... gets a pat on the back for being a good little worked bee.

[–]1TheReason13 47 points48 points49 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

On all levels of the animal kingdom, males fight mercilessly to win mating rights to females. The victors (alphas) protect this right at all cost. It is an instinct to defend the genetic paternity of their future offspring, and so ensure their genes are passed on. This is a compulsion so powerful that some males, lions and hippo's for example, will risk life and limb, then kill all of the losing male's offspring to ensure the paternity of their own future offspring.

Human males call this powerful instinct to protect paternity "jealousy." Men are instinctively aware of female instinctive hypergamy, females look for stronger males, and male jealousy is a direct and complimentary defense against hypergamy to protect paternity. This is why it is so difficult to control jealousy, and why jealousy can turn the most reserves men into chest beating gorillas.

Women experience jealousy, and in just as powerful a way, but for very different reasons. Women are instinctively aware of the male instinct to mate with many females, if a woman's chosen man is receptive to the charms of other females she will be compelled to regain control of her source of protection, provision, resources and labor (the male). A woman needs a man to devote himself to her, if a woman senses that her chosen man is independent of her (dread game) it means her source of protection and provision is in jeopardy. She will work relentlessly to regain the males attention and fight of the competition. This is why dread game is so effective.

It is important to understand that male protection, provision, resources and labor is the property of the male, not the female. Because of this, the female will go through great lengths to gain control of the male in order to gain control of his protection and provision. If she succeeds in gaining control of the male (Beta Bux), her source of protection and provision is ensured and she becomes comfortable and complacent. Knowing that she is being provided for, survival takes a back seat and she will start covertly looking for other males.

A woman's offspring will be her own offspring, whether it is also her current mans offspring or not is not her instinctive concern, it is the males concern. Her concern is for protection and provision, and will naturally use treachery to gain this privilege from males. It is in her nature.

It is our responsibility not to be suckered into being cuckolded, not the womans, ours. Jealousy is a powerful LTR tool, it is a male instinct and should NOT BE IGNORED as the sheep would like you to think. Yes, it is a sign of insecurity, the insecurity of future paternity, and is a legitimate and indispensable instinctive warning. You can not deny nature, those who do are the ones who are cuckolded, its just that simple.

Important Part

The literature supports the view not to tell the husband (1983 President’s Commission on the Ethical Issues of Genetic Testing; 1994 Committee on Assessing Genetic risks of the Institute of Medicine). The rational is not to disrupt families. Of 500 genetic counselors surveyed in Europe and USA, only 1.5% would disclose the information to the father. In another study of 1000 geneticists, 96% thought protection of the mother’s confidentiality overrides disclosure of true paternity. Of these 96%, 80% would tell the woman. The remaining 20% would lie saying the lab made a mistake about the risk or that it was a new mutation or just be vague. However, a survey of patients gave a different result – 75% (mainly women) thought the doctor should tell the man if he asked about his paternity, though only 17% of doctors agreed.

For the sake of keeping the family unit together, at the cost of your decency and humanity, it is a widely agreed upon sentiment that you should not be told that you are a cuckold. You are a dispensable man, your only job is to go to work and raise this slutspawn of another man. Your feelings do not matter, just the woman and her boyfriend's child. This is an important thing to understand about being a man.

[–]manwhy 20 points21 points22 points 11 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

What's much more interesting to me is that 75% of the women would be willing to inform their men of paternity, versus 17% of the doctors and other various professionals.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points36 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ask them again when the baby isn't their husband's child and the test results have just come in. "Shall we tell him, ma'am?"

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's the thing about women. They say they'll do one thing, but when it comes time, they do another.

"I hate guys who are assholes and treat me like shit!"

"OMG FUCK ME HARDER"

[–]MisterMisogyny 34 points35 points36 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What's much more interesting to me is that 75% of the women would be willing to inform their men of paternity,

They SAY that they would... in a survey.

Wasn't there a post the other day that showed that women completely lie on survey studies?

[–]2wiseclockcounter 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

what about the post about the survey that just said how 96% of women lie to their husbands? lol

[–]esco_ 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's probably not that they are lieing per se. Self report data is just not very accurate. People are not always great at identifying what they do.

[–]humankin 18 points19 points20 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

83% of doctors are too afraid of being sued and 25% of women are at least one manner of evil.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No, 75% of women in general think the husband should be informed, which means that they share (or at the very least are aware of) a set of certain value that frown upon cuckolding.

[–]ColdEiric 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Judge actions, not statements.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's why I said "at least are aware of", because it shows they at least know it's wrong so they refrain from advocating it.

[–]Frozen_Tundra 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What interests me is the 25% who were against it. I wonder if they aren't sure if their kids are from the husband.

[–]3 Endorsed ContributorF9R 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Well, now I'm paranoid that paternity tests aren't reliable...

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You can buy one from wal- mart and send it in. The waiting is terrible though. Alternatively if you are curious you can go somewhere like here:

http://www.canadiancrc.com/paternity_determination_blood_type.aspx

To gain some knowledge of whether it's even possible for you to be the father by blood type. I know that two of my parents four children are not from my father, guaranteed. I've not told him because he is my dad. I confronted my mother and she hamstered it away.

[–]widec 15 points16 points17 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That article has a link to a pretty neat article about paternity fraud. Some highlights:

In part, researchers figured females would be deterred from cheating since they had more to lose than a male by fooling around -- their mate might stop foraging to feed the hungry offspring, cutting off the animal equivalent of child support, or worse, turn violent. Yet this, he said, seems only to have inspired females to perfect the art of secrecy and deception: They persistently sneak off in search of stronger genes, better feeding grounds, good providers and protectors.

So females have a biological incentive to look for better options secretly. All men should be wary of this.

All this messing around might have been predicted by animal behaviour, but it has been only recently that researchers learned just how hard faithful females are to find in any species.

Monogamy sure is tough.

In the early 1970s, a schoolteacher in southern England assigned a class science project in which his students were to find out the blood types of their parents. The students were then to use this information to deduce their own blood types (because a gene from each parent determines your blood type, in most instances only a certain number of combinations are possible). Instead, 30 per cent of the students discovered their dads were not their biologically fathers.

I found this part funny, an exercise that probably had good intentions but quickly turned awkward. I wonder how the teacher explained that to the kids.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points20 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You know my health records state I'm at high risk for diabetes and hypertension because of "genetics". My dad has those. Or the guy who raised me and cared for me and who I call dad. I have no fucking clue who my "dad" actually is.

Does society fucking care that my doctor has been giving me medical advice based on bullshit? Or that some guy out there has a kid (me) that he doesn't even know about? Or that my dad actually thinks he is my bio dad?

My mom said she was "trying to figure out what she needs" when I confronted her. Hamstering away... And she wonders why none of her children even like her.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's fucked, I'd tell my dad. These hoes ain't loyal

[–]squishles 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That blood type one is too much rp for me XD

Found it out years ago, start asking peoples blood type and have fun regretting knowledge.

[–]aakksshhaayy 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They are reliable. But you have to explicitly request a paternity test; they won't tell you that you are/aren't the father if they find out coincidentally.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Go to an independent lab that specializes in this, apparently there are loads springing up around the countries surrounding France as men take a trip across the border to find out.

[–]Endorsed ContributorRedBigMan 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No if you go for a paternity test then there is no ambiguity... You are going to find if you are or are not the father.

This is sort of a grey area... the woman might not even know the man is not the father either. Remember women are horrible with math and science so they might not realize the dude they fucked the night before they're man could be the daddy when she's late on her period a month later.

[–]Endorsed Contributorzyk0s 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

That's why ethics is such a bullshit concept. Objective morality my ass, it's one of the many ways to rationalize things, and I see no evidence of it being superior to others. If "keeping the family unit together" was such an important ethical goal, why is divorce possible?

[–]Endorsed ContributorRedBigMan 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bingo... now if divorce wasn't possible then you might have an ethics case for concealing this information.

[–]2Overkillengine 28 points29 points30 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Remember, it is apparently OK to lie to a child about their genetic inheritance and thus health risks just so someone else can avoid confrontation over doing something unethical.

[–]TheSchnozzberry 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They aren't lying to the child. Just the "father".

[–]2Overkillengine 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

We talking about the reality or the rationalization people are using for paternity fraud?

Because yeah, I can see what you are saying if it is the second. They lie to themselves and say the only person they are lying to is the "father".

The chance that little Timmy may have inherited a heart defect from Chad Thundercock isn't exactly a concept most people are considering. Besides, Beta Bucks Benjamin has a good job and can pay for that anyways.

That sub-reddit is some cancer.

Just recently there was a high-up thread about something nice and a rather, and the OP threw in "I hope it's okay to put in something positive in here for once!"

Then the top comment in reply was quoting such, following with "Most posts on /r/twoxchromosomes are positive, what are you on about guuuurlll?" and so on with that.

They love the negative lifestyle and drama they induce into their lives.

EDIT: Spelling error.

I think one of the reasons why they have HEAVY moderation and stick-up-the-ass feminism to basically hide this shit. I'm convinced it's there to hold up the Women are Wonderful effect. The little bit that gets through is just the tip of the iceberg - especially since there's an enormous amount of poly-fuckery. Every once in a while, you get some 5-car pile-up that exposes the power-talk of feminism, and you can see feminists scramble to hide it from site or to make it about something else entirely.

There's a bunch of female-oriented forums on the internet and they are disgusting. If the Reddit hive-mind was exposed to it; feminists would hold no power at all on this site. And exposing Zoe Quinn would be a non-story instead of a cluster-fuck of deletion of threads, banning, shadow-banning, and moderators getting kicked.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All feminist subreddits have very heavy moderation. Check out /r/bannedbyfeminists Interesting comment btw.

You may be right, however, it doesn't stem from an exclusive inflow of betas into medical school but rather from the risk minimization that needs to be taken in all situations to avoid the wrath of the sue-happy american people. I find that the doctors I have worked with in other countries (mostly third world) are alpha as fuck.

[–]Hoodwink 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

If you listened to doctors, you would think every man, woman, and child in the United States has their own docket cabinet at multiple levels of courts.

They don't need to. There's a lot of narcissistic, ignorant (like evolution is a lie ignorant), and make-a-quick-buck types here that the supply is almost endless. And there's enough lawyers out of work that there is enough of them that will do anything. I've seen 1000's of commercials on day-time TV advertising for wrongful medical practice. It's advertised on billboards for god-sakes.

It really does gum up shit. There's some statistic which said that statistically, there's about 1 lawsuit for every doctor in the United States.

[–]Hoodwink 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Maybe I'm biased as I have a lot of nurses and doctors in my family, but the stories that are told of the shit that gets pulled is giant what the fuck.

Now, there might be fuck-ups. But, not in the numbers that the average hospital experience. And one of the reasons is because THERE IS frivolous lawsuits - the lawyers tend to get paid upfront when they know it's not going to work. Lawyers are starved for work in the U.S.

[–][deleted] 11 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

[–]Hoodwink 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

They simply do not exist in the numbers which support the paranoia seen across the medical profession.

They do occur enough and with some regularly - and the advertising that is in the United States keeps advertising about cases of medical malpractice for patients. If it didn't bring in the cash, it wouldn't be advertised on billboards on daytime TV.

Defensive Medicine is practiced regularly and widely and contributes heavily to the cost to healthcare because every patient or family is a twitchy on the lawyers when things go wrong.

Doctors harm people, they do it negligently.

I'm not arguing that they don't. But, we do have a culture in the United States that really like get-rich-quick schemes and lawsuits. You have to realize that at a hospital, you generally have a larger cross-section of people than you would at many other places of work. You get to see poverty, prostitutes, and drug addiction in larger numbers than probably any other place of business. You get to see the worst of people and you can't turn them down. Take the red-pill and realize that a lot of the advertising for malpractice lawsuit looks like a lottery ad out of poverty for a lot of people. It's not just people in poverty though - it's the middle-high economic classes too - especially the ones that have a sense of entitlement. You know how reddit tells you that everyone should work at retail or something with customer service to the general public? Being a doctor at a public hospital 5x worse than that.

This isn't about shaming people harmed from being compensated for unlawful harm. It's about not getting harmed by semi-competent grifter who can actually do some homework. The only reason lawsuits don't fuck up every hospital and doctor is because they practice defensive medicine and treat every patient as a lawsuit.

[–]CptDefB 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think if you went back in time to when doctors were exclusively men, you would find the same thing. One can attribute you this to there being no female doctors, or less women in the workforce overall (there was no HR department back then).

[–]areyousrslol 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Maybe in orthopedic surgery, although those guys are super jocks. Smart as hell though.

Intensive care people are egalitarian and understanding as shit though, probably because they've seen the worst and the saddest of people's lives and continue working. Wanted to become one after med school, but my grades bit me in the ass.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

can you elaborate a bit ? If the doctor isn't on the pacient's side, whose side is he on ? the state/gov, the drug company's ?

I any case, should i be careful in disclosing information that might help a better diagnosis ? (ex: cheated on my trip to china but said i became sick because of food poisoning to avoid confrontation)

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Typically doctors (and other professionals) are on the side of money. Not to say that doctors are only in it for the money but that whether or not a decision will come to bite them in the ass financially has a great deal of sway over whether or not they take certain actions.

[–]kanaduhisfruityeh 17 points18 points19 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If I got married I'd need a paternity test for any potential child in the prenup. If any baby wasn't mine I'd want to be absolved of all financial responsibility for it and divorce her on the grounds that she was unfaithful.

male priviledge...

You guys feel priviledged already? Sickening.

Of 500 genetic counselors surveyed in Europe and USA, only 1.5% would disclose the information to the father.

The couple came to find out about genetic risks – not to discover paternity of a child a brain tumor. The finding of non-paternity a brain tumor is incidental. There is no need to answer questions which have not been asked. But this is not truly incidental as it bears on the risk – and certainly affects that risk.

See how retarded that sounds? Jerry Springer should have gone to med school and exposed these hoes.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Id like to think that when I achieve that profession, I wont get sued up my ass for disclosing paternity. If you are required to disclose cancer diagnosis and the women can leave the man because she doesn't want to deal with that, than by god I will disclosure paternity and leave it be.

Man, as a former medical student I had fun in ethics class with stuff like this. It's definitely not cut and dry on either side, with most falling on the side of consulting with the mother.

But this isn't the actual problem, it is a symptom. The issue isn't protecting the integrity of the family or whatever. That's an excuse. It's that society, and doctors as part of the society, view female autonomy and especially autonomy of mothers as higher than any man. They are more respected and protected. And maybe that shouldn't change, because it's historically understandable. However it shouldn't be done by those that espouse the current understanding of equality.

I don't think the doctors can argue that notifying the father that the child isn't actually his would be considered violating the mother's autonomy. She violated his autonomy first by trying to sucker him in to raising someone else's kid on false pretenses. The only risk in exposing the lie is her losing her beta bux, but I really don't see the ethical dilemma. She was manipulating him and intended to do so indefinitely.

Could you imagine if doctors withheld evidence of a rape to protect the safety of the perpetrator, or to keep someone from being upset by the news? And justifying this based on it being in the reproductive interests is just disgusting. Morality isn't based on what's advantageous genetically, it's based on treating people with a basic modicum of dignity. Last I checked rape was in the basic reproductive interest of the rapist too.

Cuckolding is a worse crime than rape IMO.

Makes look a cotton bud and an envelope early on (before one develops any attachment to the child), secretly mailed to a lab, seem like a good idea...

So, if you can't even trust doctors for a paternity test, what's a guy to do?

I wouldn't say to the father that he's not the father because I could get sued. I would say the child of you two has a 1/25 chance of this illness and this kid has 1/1000 and just leave the room for a few minutes.

This title is pretty misleading. Views of both sides are presented in this article, and the main thrust of it is largely an ethical one, in the context of information protection. To say that Doctors are okay with cuckolding is a gross exaggeration, when the whole point of it being an ethical dilemma is that it's not clear what the right thing to do is.

It's not an ethical dilemma to anyone who isn't a woman or a total beta male. A man has a right to know whether or not the child he's slaving away for is genetically his. To claim otherwise is an explicit support of widespread cuckoldry.

The issue here isn't whether he has a right to know, but rather what it is we are testing for. It is generally the case in medicine (based in the UK here) that the only information disclosed after a test is what we tested for, and only to those who we tested. The specific example here is that certain genetic tests require the genetic information of both parents, and this may highlight a father (or mother, but less likely) is not the parent of a child.

This brings up the dilemma I mentioned - yes, we are testing, but what exactly did we test for? The test certainly wasn't ordered as a paternity test or a maternity one, but is this incidental finding one that must, or should be reported? To say yes in every circumstance takes a lot more thought and discussion than simply brute forcing an opinion, no matter how widespread it is.

I personally believe that either parent should be informed if they are not the parent; after all, no one would have a problem with informing a woman that she isn't the mother of the child, and there is no good reason to say the same shouldn't apply to the father. The fact that it means the woman cheated is irrelevant to me.

It becomes irrelevant after time but we are men and to discover that a majority of our lives have been devoted to lies and deception to use us, like objects, not real people, just things, can cause an insanity that only another man can understand.
