The final straw for Horvath came when she saw men gawking at women who were hula-hooping at the office. She called the episode “a really ugly and inappropriate scene.” Her words:

Two women, one of whom I work with and adore, and a friend of hers were hula hooping to some music. I didn’t have a problem with this. What I did have a problem with is the line of men sitting on one bench facing the hoopers and gawking at them. It looked like something out of a strip club. When I brought this up to male coworkers, they didn’t see a problem with it. But for me it felt unsafe and to be honest, really embarrassing. That was the moment I decided to finally leave GitHub.

Hula hooping at the workplace, of course they wanted no attention at all. How dare those men, practically eye raping those poor defenceless womyn.

On a related note, Github already caved to feminists who were offended by a rug that had the word 'Meritocracy' on it. Not making this up.

I don't get that way of thinking...at this rate it is a shitty idea for any company to hire a single woman. I mean if they bitch around like this the conclusion is: if you hire a woman you put your company's image in danger.

Let's see. She got into a fight with a cofounder, the dude's wife, as well as a coworker whose "advances" she rejected. Then complains about a moment which was no doubt lighthearted and involved women who had no problem with it. How was Horvath not fired?

Having been in a few start ups her version of events sounds like bullshit and as if a child wrote it. A child who omits everything they done wrong from a story and these "bad people' were suddenly mean to her for "no reason".

I started to take apart her story bit by bit but it became a wall of text so i will just summarize.

If you continually write bad code other programmers have to fix , they will pull your work and write "aggressive" stuff and not respect your opinion, period the end. and it has nothing to do with your vagina . The pressure of a start up and trying to establish a company and a cashflow and roll out software , if Hitler wrote good code in between killing Jews I would have used it.

The Co-founders wife : is either insane ( if you believe Horvath ) or more likely Horvath was talking shit, stirring up shit in the office, and she talked to her and then had to become her "minder" sitting next to her so she did not cause more shit.

The Boyfriend HR "thing" again I think Horvath leaves off half the story ,( but includes a lot of her crying and shaking, so can't make heads or tails of it .

The "Rapey" engineer. Oh yeah men are just throwing themselves at you then destroy software when they can't have you , umm no. I think word got around that you were not going to be there long so engineer guy did not have to tolerate you or your shitty code any longer. Also works well for If you did such good and valuable work there, then where is all the code you wrote? Boo hoo a rapey engineer deleted it"*

The " Unsafe" Hulla hoop "like a stripclub" incident - nice touch makes it sound like a den of sex and sexism , plays nice for the ladies.

At our start up we used to order pizzas on Thursday and the graphic design guys would play hackey-sak on the lawn and we would watch. Little did I know that despite having girlfriends and wives we were all latent homosexuals feasting our eyes on the "man flesh" before us....

TL;DR - Most likely better programmers came in and she could not hack it, raised a stink in the office and has zero accountability or introspection because she, having a vagina, is as pure as driven snow and so it must be the patriarchy that caused all the problems , not her

Why did Horvath work for GitHub? She “loved the idea of GitHub because it was the place people went to make things for people who make things.”

Let me ride on the coat tails of man's creation and creativity. I can devour more resources in my quest for happiness and tingles.

In light of that, Horvath told us that she “participated in the boys’ club upon joining,” but when her “character started being discussed in inappropriate places like on pull requests and issues,” the situation changed.

"Boys Club". Now Github is in deep shit. Women always look to invade man's space with the ultimate goal of destruction. Ah but the "boy's club" did not succumb to her special character and beliefs. Who are they, the founders and creators, to have the audacity to build a corporate culture that is not in alignment with her special snowflake.

In short, Horvath said that she felt she was being treated differently internally simply due to her gender and not the quality of her work. She calls her colleagues’ response to her own work and the work of other female GitHub employees a “serious problem.” Despite GitHub hiring more female developers, Horvath said she struggled to feel welcome.

She is a clever one. She immediately calls upon the herd of women to come to her defence citing that not only her work, but also "the work of other female Github employees" was treated "differently". Who the fuck is she to judge the quality of anyone's work?

So in her eyes Github prefers to overlook the brilliant work of women employees and forgo profits and success, so they can focus on keeping the females down. Yes this is the master plan, hire a bunch of females and then cunningly assassinate their character, hard work, and ingenuity. That evil patriarchy! They must now be punished.

Why the hell would they want to "recruit more women?"

I recruit the best and the brightest. I don't care if they're men, women or monkeys as long as they're good at what they do. I'll never understand this superficial desire to have some bullshit "balance" between sexes, races, or any other traits. They're just going to wind up with a bunch of mediocre programmers because "OMG must have and cater to women to prove we aren't sexist!"

Writing code is a male dominated space because men are better with logic. Period. I've met some bad ass female programmers, it's true, but they are few and far between. Definitely not the norm.

If I had any financial positions in github I'd dump them yesterday.

This is why I don't agree with putting women in male dominated spaces. Even if what she said was true, all of this could have been avoided by not hiring any women in the first place.

Diversity is not strength, it comes at the cost of solidarity. Men are able to fight out their differences and be friends afterwards. Women will fight too, but they will hold a grudge and still seek to destroy their opposition whether they won or lost.

We as a society need to start looking at segregation as a way to increase productivity.

I have a suspicion that the "unsafe work environment" charges are nothing more than a means of garnering media attention for what could be a real issue between her, the wife, and the company.

The unsafe claims seem so random--especially when you can see there is a clear, cohesive narrative underneath them, concerning the wife running things and bullying employees.

If I were a woman and wanted to fight a situation where my company was clandestinely operated by a vicious bully who was attacking me, I would draw media attention by making these types of claims. No one would care about the actual problem-it sounds like a conspiracy--but if you throw sex and feminism in the mix, it blows up.

Just food for thought--for all we know, she might be the hero to her fellow employees, being the only one who can throw light on all of this, while risking her reputation and future employement opportunities. Or, she might be a psycho cunt.

Either way, this one seems not so clear cut.

The founder's wife is the crazy bitch here. Note that the wife was not an employee:

The founder apologized, and admitted to having “inappropriately escalated the situation.” His wife, he said, would work from home from then on. The wife, to be clear, was not a GitHub employee.

Instead of getting gone, the wife appeared the next day and “planted herself right in front” of Horvath. Horvath pinged various executives who were “busy” but willing to help eventually.

The situation wasn’t merely passively painful; according to Horvath it became virulent:

The next thing I knew the wife was in my face at my work station verbally attacking me. She demanded to speak with me in private to which I said no. I asked her in a very calm way to leave me alone and told her she was making me uncomfortable. There is an eye-witness to this event.

I was shaking in horror and felt my adrenaline pumping harder than ever before. I was proud of myself for not reacting, though.

I decided to work from home for a while.

HR eventually asked the wife to not be on the same floor as Horvath. But according to Horvath’s recount, “she continued to find her way in and plant herself right next to wherever I was working.” This continued until her exit from the firm this past Thursday.

Still a RP story, but that wife is an unhinged crazy bitch.
