Oh they'll try their hardest to not appear shallow, but women are just as shallow as men are. The only difference is that a man can make up for poor looks by:

  • Being rich
  • Being powerful (social dominance, muscles, etc)
  • Being hung like a horse (see Ron Jeremy)

Women on the other hand can't do much to make men find them attractive, other than actually being physically attractive.

Not true. A 7 who smiles, is genuinely pleasant to be around, has traditionally feminine personality traits (neoteny, submissiveness, empathy), and puts a little effort into taking care of a man is much more attractive than your vapid 9. Granted it won't matter what she does if she is beneath the beauty threshold, but women can definitely raise their SMV with some lady game.

I posted it as a NP thread, but many people that were also part of the Seddit community don't think it applies to them because they have been longtime active members of Seddit. Their stance has some merit. They loved the place, got a lot out of it, and are sad to see it go downhill.

So yes, if you see a woman you recognize from OKC in public, you should wait to approach her "in some roundabout manner." She put her information on a dating site for other users to contact her THROUGH THAT SITE. Very similar to watching a good movie vs bad one. The good movies are so good you're "lost" in it. It's as if you're IN the story. Bad movies have elements that lose the escapism (bad special effects, horrible acting, seeing a microphone at the top of the shot, etc).

The reason you don't complement strangers on their beauty is because it's easy, and because it's not something they chose. "hey, just wanted to say that you're hot" is not a compliment, it's an observation, and she already knows that she's hot.

"I like your earrings" is better, because that's something she chose.

Here's an analogy: some company wants to hire me. If I get an email that says, "we've been looking through your github" that's a compliment. But if they email me and say, "wow, you're a white male" that's not a compliment.

I know there are idiots out there doing stupid things like a) stopping women on the street and b) complimenting their looks, but this woman appears to take great joy in shooting them down.
