Charlotte, cost of living is fantastic and it is the 2nd or 3rd largest banking city in the country. The city is phenomenal, I seriously can't recommend it enough.

I did a study of this. Atlanta, GA has the best income to cost of living ratio for my related professional field, for a early-mid 20s renting professional, and lowest state income tax iirc, where I can make 100k+ p.a. And keep close to 50% in savings.

Cincinnati, for the time being, still has a great cost of living. Big with Macy's, P&G, GE, 5/3 bank, and more. I'm not in the industry but it seems like a lot of opportunity here.

Houston, but you’d be working energy industry finance. Lots of oil & gas PE shops plus Citi, Wells Fargo, Credit Suisse, Scotia, Barclay’s, JP Morgan, UBS, and a bunch of smaller names.

USA south east, mid-west, and south-west is good. Stay away from the west coast (CA, OR, WA), and north east (NY, CT, MA etc).

Dallas is great if you know how to network, lots of big players here which means big opportunities. Its not the cheapest place to live by any means but you can get a nice place if you look hard enough for 1-1.5k per month. Economy is booming here, lots of business opportunities. Plus Texas is fantastic (no income tax)and the weather and women down here are great. Dallas is like upscale Austin without all the hipsters and feminists.

Probably most 2nd tier cities in the US. Chicago, Austin, Phoenix, etc. well, Chicago is probably 1.5 but it is affordable

I moved to Asia awhile back for work and know a couple of buddies in finance who have recently moved to rapidly developing countries like Myanmar, Vietnam, etc to continue their finance careers. Those countries are “the next China”. Some of them are with oil companies and others with Visa, MasterCard, etc. I myself am in the first-tier locations such as Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Singapore which you’re probably not looking for (high CoL).

Try Dallas. I am moving there in the next year because they have tons of opportunities and you can get an apartment for under a 1000.
