Conformity is linked with our instincts. Progressives go away from that which explain why it's tougher for them to find happiness.

My coworker has said that her wife feels like a spectacle and it makes her miserable, not because she's a lesbian, but because she doesn't shave her legs or wear a bra or makeup. I can't help but think, that if she's unhappy, she should stop being a spectacle. If you're happy with the way you are, screw everyone else. If you're not, change.

If conformity gets you want and you are happy as a result, nothing else matters.

I get my eyebrows shaped every second week. I spend a ton of money on blow outs. My nails are always filed and manicured. I will never wear unflattering clothes. A guy I dated recently was always in awe at how even my clothes for lounging at home were so on point. This attitude extends to my home, which is well-decorated, the food I cook, the drinks I serve my guests. Basically, my face and everything about me that is outward facing must, within reason, be aesthetically pleasing.

And I have an extremely stressful and demanding job so comments like “we don’t have time to spend on this silly stuff” is just an excuse for not being objectively attractive.

I still think that, overall, I’m a feminist. But I’m a pretty typical woman looks-wise. Maybe that means I conform to the patriarchy’s standards but I don’t care.

I’m happy and I don’t understand why conforming is so problematic for feminists if women are HAPPY.

It doesn’t even matter why the women are happy. It only matters that they are.

What feminist think is not terribly relevant to our sub. Also we are apolitical. Not everyone here is conservative.

Not a woman, but my 2 cents.

In a very general sense, left leaning people want to pool resources, while right leaning people want to compete for resources. Those that want to compete for resources are generally those capable of winning that competition, and those who don't want to compete are generally those who are going to lose.

Hence you find more successful right leaning people and dare I say it, 'uglier' people and their predators on the left.

Not conforming to 'traditional' beauty standards is a necessary appeal to niche markets because one lacks 'traditional' beauty standards.

Why do I care about what other women think of me and what business of it is mine if a woman doesn't want to conform with conventional beauty standards?

It's 2019, a woman should have the option to conform as much or as little as she sees fit.
