I wish someone told me to get out. The women in my family are more or less pickmeisha’s and when I was with my recent ex I know I would have behaved totally different now. He was not career driven and I was pushing him to basically be more ambitious when he wasn’t. Instead of wasting huge amount of time with him, I should have left loooong time ago. But when I finally did I truly never felt happier with myself. Also yesterday I had a talk with my good male friend - he isn’t HVM but he has a good heart and we are never going to be together, so I have never looked at him that way. Anyway, he was talking to me about how unmotivated he is, nothing makes sense for him. Basically depression talk. Before FDS I would try to talk him out, saying what he has in life etc. Free therapy. What I did yesterday is I told him he should see a professional and that him being in a relationship doesn’t solve problem - it is not a free therapy. (He was talking about finding someone) And he agreed with me which ended the discussion and I am happy I was able to behave that way and save my time.

If he's depressed, there's no guarantee how long his recovery will take (1 year +).He will likely just drag you down with him.

Depression is a hard nut to crack, but also, there's a lot of overlap between depressed and just shitty. Best not to mistake one for the other, because only one is fixable, and that's if you even want to stay. I'm of the opinion that you can't support him in a search for a solution if he isn't searching for one himself. And even if you could, that's not a reason why you should.

Whenever I read cries for help like these, ending in "will he ever change?", I know that the answer will always be NO.

It is obvious she puts in the effort and this thing gnaws at her constantly. She feels taken for granted, invisible, used.

The truth is that he is dragging her down and is simply indifferent to whatever she does. She is just there and he will take that. If the roles were reversed, he would keep her until she would no longer be of any "use" to him. Because he uses her energy and resources:

-he is too lazy to go to her place

-he doesn't offer anymore to help with gas costs

She senses that something is very wrong with him and it's only natural and healthy to point these things put. However, she has not yet understood that she is not here on Earth to save him, she is here to fulfil her existential plan, not his.

Girls like these always end up giving too much and dragging after them until they are exhausted the ball and chain that is their boyfriend.
