he moderation team has been having a discussion recently about allowing personal advice posts to be topics on here. There was a mixed discussion about it for a while, but ultimately the decision was made that it could not hurt to simply try it out for a while to see what happens. Effective Monday, April 23rd, personal advice posts will be permitted.

These advice posts will be moderated differently than other posts due to their nature. The incel rules will still be effective and monitored strictly. In terms of being uncivil or attacking people in these posts, the OP will be opening themselves up to criticism so the rules will change a bit in regards to that, this means they may be receiving some “tough love” advice, which is fine. If you are a user who likes to give tough love advice, keep it as harsh Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glen Ross, but do not go as far R. Lee Ermey in Full Metal Jacket.

The rules for these posts is as follows:

  • No woe is me/pity parties/complaining

  • Include some information: gender, country, age etc.

  • No pictures or explicitly identifying information and no requesting this either

  • The advice given as top level comments must be actionable

  • The OP must participate in their post similar to a CMV

Again, this is only going to be tried out for a certain period.

We would like to ask the community for some personal advice regarding how to make these posts and also we can answer any questions you have about it so far.
