Question for women feminists: How do you deal with conflict when your conflict is with a woman?

I deal with it the same way I deal with any conflict: in the way most likely to get a resolution. I am a strong advocate of the idea that women are just as likely to be bitchy, pains in my ass as men are, and I'm less inclined to cut women a break because they have a vagina.

For example, I have a paralegal who has nine brothers. She is used to being able to turn on the waterworks to have her family spoil her. But when she starts that with me, I shut it down. I don't care if you get away with that elsewhere - here, you're an adult, responsible for your own choices, and I will call you on the carpet if I need to.

It's not a conflict to have an issue with a woman. In fact, it's the natural result of feminism and should be celebrated. Women are just as responsible for their fuckups as men.

I'm nice to their face but undermine them behind their backs. Social conflict is the easiest conflict to resolve. I generally have higher social standing than a lot of women I meet, and I understand how to fight back without being overt or looking bad.

It's not the "high road" but it's the most effective.

I prefer to just let shit go if it's not that big a deal. Jenna from nightshift called me a sleaze? IDGAF, I just move on, even if it hurts my feelings or pisses me off in the mean time.

If it's a big enough issue that it needs to be addressed, I prefer to talk to the person one on one. If a compromise can be reached I'll go for it in most cases, because again, IDGAF. Jenna from nightshift keeps calling me a sleaze and is spreading a rumor that I'm sleeping with half the office, and when I call her out on it she brings up a way that I slighted her? Whatever, I'll apologize, and hope she's enough of an adult to move on too.

If no compromise is possible, I have zero problems with being firm. IME if I approach another woman and cooly but firmly lay out my issue, it gets resolved, even if our relationship takes a toll. I learned from my father (who has managed his own small business for decades including some very snotty secretaries) not to get hung up on seeking an apology when a sincere one won't be forthcoming and a ceasefire will do.

If they're not a superior, speak directly and clearly about what I think the misunderstanding is.

If they are a boss or whatevs. speak directly and clearly, but more politely, allowing them more time to talk.

If they're a random cunt being a cunt, tell them they should have been aborted, and they're a waste of oxygen. I don't live my life in such a way that I get to do this very often, though. :/
